Off-handed Handaxes?

Hi community,

Quick question: is there a way to mod handaxes (only relevant to their melee versions) to be place-able in the off-hand slot? Did not see a flag that seem to forbid off-hand usage in the handaxe item files, so it’s an engine thing?

I want to build a half-orc barbarian dual-wielding axes (mainhand battleaxe & offhand handaxe [melee-only]). With IR, penalty for wielding a battleaxe in offhand is too much.

You can do this all day, in BG2, and BG1EE:

That's two (battle) axes.

You CANNOT use a throwable weapon with anything but an off hand shield.

Then get a dual weapon proficiency, and it won't be. Yes, it's an engine thing in so much that the design is that you get the dual weapon proficiencies, or you won't be able to hit anything when you have two weapons of any kind, even if you are the best at with a single one, cause it's a completely different thing.

You are not forced to use IR's Dual Wield Changes component. In fact, you are not forced to use IR at all.

Can you just remove the ranged header from the handaxes? They wouldn’t be throwable, but would be off-handable.

This, worked. Now I might use CDTweaks’ method for 2H-battleaxes and give every handaxe an ability to switch to a melee-only version of itself.

Thanks for the feedback and help, everyone.
