BUG: Tutu Tweaks-v16

Macready

Recommended Posts

Hello -

The NWN-style HPs on level-up feature of Tutu Tweaks v16 is not working for me. I am using Tutu v4, Tutufix v15, Tutu Tweaks v16, D0Tweak v16, and TutuGUI v1.5. I am pasting my WeiDU log below in case that might help identify the issue. If I have the install order messed up somehow, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello -

A quick follow-up -- it seems that the tweak is having an effect opposite of what is intended. My sorcerer seems confined to HP rolls of 1 and 2 instead of 3 and 4. I've done one other level up so far (Imoen), and received a "lower half" roll there as well. In that case I assumed that perhaps the tweak only applied to the PC and let it go. But in light of my repeated failed attempts to roll anything higher than a 2 with my sorceror, I am pretty sure I have a bona-fide HP nerf in effect. :)

Save game available if needed.

Hello -

A final note -- I reinstalled the NWN-style level-up just to peek at what it did, and it seems the install script is definitely modifying the relevant .2DA files as needed. I'm just going to write it off as sorceror weirdness -- they have a lot of hard coding, don't they?

Yet the tweak *does* affect my sorceror, in that his HP rolls are confined to 1s and 2s. Could it be that sorcerers use the SIDES and ROLLS colums in HPWIZ.2DA, but ignore the MODIFIER column? Because the behavior I am experiencing is consistent with that sort of circumstance. It's probably worth a mention in the README that sorcerors don't play nicely with this mod.

Well, thanks for listening... :O

Hello -

But you say Imoen, a mage, is getting low rolls too? You're sure your characters are below level 11 (I have to ask)?

This occurred to me about two seconds after I posted that...kind of blows a big hole in the sorcerer theory, eh? :O

The characters were not level 11 -- they were going from 1 to 2 in both cases. Also, Imoen is a thief, as this is Tutu (and Tutu-Tweaks) -- I think I may have forgot to mention that.

I uninstalled it, looked at the TP2 code, saw what it was trying to do, reinstalled it, verified that it had changed exactly what it was trying to change, but it was still broken. Is it possible that the final column, MODIFIER, is ignored for the dice-roll levels? Because that is exactly how it is acting.

For my own use I re-edited the HP*.2DA files such that the dice-roll levels use:

SIDES = 2, ROLLS = (MaxHP / 2), MODIFIER=0

This has the effect of rolling numbers from the halfway mark up (2 to 4 for mages, 3 to 6 for rogues, 4 to 8 for priests, and 5 to 10 for fighters). It works, is darn close to the stated NWN-style idea, and I'm happy.

Thanks for looking into the issue for me.
