  1. If it's possible to do the quest-less, "light" ToB Ajantis(i.e. like ten romance talks, five friendship ones, thirty interjections, repeat of committed flirts, one banter for each NPC and Gorion Ghost dialogue), I'd say it might be worth it. I mean, romance is the meaty part so many girls want, right? And the rest just want a non-silent ToB Ajantis. But that's just me

  2. Just a note: if you like, you can install Xan's original BG1 soundset and play Angelo with SisterV's voice AND Xan with BG1 voice, if you'd like.

I shall look through the crossmod Angelo-Xan banters and report to Crossmod Banter Pack - if there's a problem, we'll fix it together. Thank you for the report!

  3. By the way, how are things with ToB? I mean, other than Gorion's Wraith(the most difficult part in any NPC mod I coded, really), there's nothing that difficult in ToB part, is there? Well, except for the amount of writing. Or are you planning a quest?

  4. I guess something can be done in a single dialogue: i.e. if PC has Ajantis's ring or if it is established that she and Ajantis travelled together, she can have one "dialogue with herself"(just like in the Tree of Life) or with Anomen/Keldorn, if they're in party. This dialogue can happen upon seing Ajantis's body. PC has a chance to choose to do something(save Ajantis, return him, have him as a party member) or accept his death and say that though Ajantis was her love(companion, friend, groom), there's nothing to be done, alas, he is dead, let us bury him here(aka "Gorion's burial" dialogue with Imoen).

One script block, one dialogue. Problem solved. This way PC would have closure, and would feel free to explore roleplaying opportunities: a grieving bride who eventually chooses to have a new start with Anomen, for example, or just someone who chooses to have different companions in BG2, but wants to have closure to Ajantis, too(so that he's not lost somewhere/waiting for her somewhere/romancing someone else, gods forbid, but is irrevokably dead). I mean, better a dead ex than an awkward Kelsey-Ajantis conversation, right? :)

  5. Alas, as I've said, I only have one save file - I overwrite all the time. I think I had v4: at least it's in my BG2 mods directory with lots of other mods and versions - but it's not installed now because I've completed the game and gone to finish my Planescape:Torment run.

I'm sorry that I can't explain it, either: I can only relay what happened in my playthrough. I guess not many people stopped the romance so late(after LT10, anyway). If I may guess, it may have something to do with OUTER_SPRINT variables(never trusted those, anyway), so the installed files would look different from the ones in the mod. But it's just a guess.

  6. I'm playing and enjoying Ajantis's friendship now, however, I've got a slight issue I thought I might report:

Pre-story: I started a true neutral human female character(upon reading in the BG1 NPC romance guide that Ajantis wouldn't romance her), however I forgot that romance guide was incorrect and Ajantis indeed romances true neutral females with a high reputation. I realized it too late, however, and was able to switch off the romance just in time, after LT10(variable value=21).

So, I switched to friendship and Ajantis's dialogues have begun. But instead of going to C#AjantisPCTalk=25, as variable transfer file would suggest, I started receiving talks from the very beginning of the friendship, i.e. we got the talk about Helm again, the talk about paladin order's structure again and so on. Which is probably not what should happen, because it looks like Ajantis's got a slight memory loss. ???

I couldn't find anything wrong with the scripts, though: they are complicated, but they look fine. So I can't exactly pinpoint the source of the problem. Using BG1 NPC v18(sure of it) and Ajantis BG1 v4(I think).

  7. I don't know: women can be possessive. I mean, if I started thinking that I maybe like a guy, and suddenly he kissed another girl, our would-be relationship could be in serious trouble. (Or, more likely, he'll be just a friend to me). As Aerie and Jaheira are rather possessive in their "jealousy talks" with each other and with Viconia, we left it like this - or I did, when I wrote some of the reactions.

If you want your character to have fun without consequences, you can either choose an "I truly apologize" kind of reply(there always is one) when talking to Jaheira/Aerie afterwards, or just kick Aerie out of the party for a few minutes(kicking will work only with Aerie!).

  8. Wow! You guys seem to have done a lot of work already.

Will you tell us just a little more about the story? I guess I'm not alone who is curious about whether the protagonist is a Bhaalspawn or a new person--whether we'll see some of the old characters there--and whether there are any ties with the Baldur's Gate Saga. Not "Will Jaheira be in my party?" but rather "Hey, maybe we'll see Tiax frolicking out there somewhere, still planning to rule all! Or Quayle's circus, or?.."

  9. Don't kill me, but - with IWD1 TUTU Beta ready, and IWD1 generally being a good(or so they say) game, do you think you'll ever be working on IWD1 NPCs?

Answering my own question: yes! You know, I think the day you started working on BG1 NPC with Blucher and Kish and folks was really a historic one for IWD... I mean, for IE modding. :D
