Mod suggestions?

Anybody have any good mod suggestions from the past two-three years? *prepares to deflect incoming*

 

I've been suffering from a horrible problem, I've been... *deep breath*... offline for the past THREE YEARS. *whimper* I've only recently regained net access, and have been, well... browsing porn mostly. Lately though, I've had a different kind of urge, the urge to play BG again. In addition to getting the latest version of the mods I already have, I was wondering what mods have come out in the past few years that others might recommend. I know that mod suggestion threads generally elicit a groan or worse from forum regulars, but I decided to ask anyway.

 

I don't even know what BG forums are around anymore. I know there's Gibberlings 3, Pocket Plane Group, and Spell Hold Studios. While exploring SHS I've discovered that ToBex has come out, which sounds very exciting. I plan on definitely adding that into my mod list.

 

Are there any other excellent mods that have been released? Are there limbo mods that have actually, finally been finished? My main interest is in rule mods and quest mods, while new items/ spells/ graphics mods are also welcome. I've never used NPC mods, as I've never gotten around to using even all the core NPCs (and to be honest, I'm a little trepidatious about the quality of mod NPC writing).

 

I'm including a copy of my weidu log, for those who'd like to see an ancient mod list. So, while I update L1NPCs 1.2 -> 1.9 and SCS v13 -> v20, are there any mods you would recommend? I should prolly add that I'm playing tutu on a Win 7, 64 bit system.

You've already got BG1 Unfinished Business in the list. Its got plans to be updated to version 14 hopefully soon. If you are ready to install and it hasn't been updated, I recommend you tack on the Prism component that will be added. Remember this idea? A large mod based around it (though not exactly following the original suggestion) is almost done, currently in beta3. Let me know if you'd like to help test it.

I've been away for a while, so I did indeed read all seven pages . I hope to finish getting my mods in order by next weekend, and maybe start playing then or the next weekend at the latest. I presume that UB v14 won't be finished by then, so I'll happily include the Prism piece and test it. I have a question about it, but I'll ask over there.

heh, there's nothing ancient in there at all. Come over to SHS & I'll show you 'ancient', e.g. Arnel's Nalia Romance. And Ascension is stil kicking it large.

The BiG World Guide (english) has sections for Rules, Quests, NPCS, and other types of categories. You needn't use the Big World method for installing--you can organize that manually. The guide is very good in giving a summary of the mods' content and where in an install order they should be placed. Check it out.
