Fluffle
Greetings everyone! Many many years ago I rebuilt the world of Baldur's Gate within HoMM3. I took a lot of inspiration from Baldur's Gate for my scenario in HoMM3 but I also added a lot of twists and turns on my own. Especially storywise I deviated a lot. It is possible to recognize a lot from Baldur's Gate but also to discover many new things. My big goal was to recapture the atmosphere of Baldur's Gate in terms of HoMM3. These two games have accompanied me since my childhood and I hold them very dear. I published my map "Fight for the Sword Coast" under my old name here. Now, I'd like to do the same with Icewind Dale. I already started the project "Icewind Dale meets Heroes of Might and Magic 3" (aka "Heroes of Ice and Wind" as I like to call it) some years ago. Then I went on a hiatus. And now I would like to continue. I am going to use the HoMM3 mod "Horn of the Abyss" for this project, which is an outstanding mod, that feels so close to the spirit of the original HoMM3 that it could have been made by the original developers just as well. I am going to use this thread to post my progress infrequently. I am looking forward to your feedback. And if you'd like to give me feedback on my Baldur's Gate map you can do so here, too.~ Easthaven ~ Spoiler ~ Kuldahar Pass and Kuldahar village ~ Spoiler ~ The Severed Hand ~ Spoiler Edited January 26, 2020 by Fluffle Quote Link to comment
Ankheg
Hey, @Fluffle, I love your BG Map for HoMM 3, played it many, many hours. It was a big dissapointment to see you got banned at Beamdog. I gave up hope for your Icewind Dale HoMM map, but fortunatly I just found out about the "new home" for your project. Thank you for the great maps, I cant wait to play the Icewind Dale map. Have a nice day and stay safe. Quote Link to comment
Greenhorn
Still have tears in my eyes when I remember HD crash which took my HoMM3 Wake of gods ERA with literally thousands of maps and campaigns ( Game of thrones, Lotr, Baldur's gate and whatnot). This looks good, perhaps it is the time for me to finally try "Horn of the Abyss". Quote Link to comment
temnix
It's nice to see the old Heroes. I'm not going to say anything about the maps, it's just nice to see them. Edited June 8, 2020 by temnix Quote Link to comment
Greenhorn
Tough call between HoMM2 and 3. Vampires ( " blaah ") and sphinxes from 2 are simply unforgettable. Edited June 8, 2020 by Greenhorn Quote Link to comment

You are forgetting cyclops. And self-ribboning mummies. And liches with the hand-thrown gray ball of bad magic (liches in Heroes 3 are good too, but that poison cloud takes too long, in my opinion.) And cavalry clonk-clonking across the battlefield? And crusaders with their enormous swords (katana-shaped, by the way) clanging with every step, plumes flying? And titans... And peasants... with their mighty stats. Do you remember peasants' stats in HoMM2? But there weren't any sphinxes. Quote Link to comment

But there weren't any sphinxes. Same as in Homm3, I think. I loved those guys... especially when I played necromancer. In truth I preferred and played mostly goodies but damn, it was so fun watching facial expressions of necros when they were winning and losing battles. Sphinxes are not creatures but objects on map, found mostly in deserts, in which you had to answer the riddle for some nifty reward or be eaten in case of failure. " Who is Romanian prime minister" and " When ABBA won Eurovision" were some of more memorable. In short, boarz rule and THUNDAX IS DA STRONGEST!! temnix
No, the peasants of Heroes II were the ultimate. In the next game they tried to make them simply weak, but in Heroes 2! They were perfect skeleton stock, though. Quote Link to comment
Fluffle
Hey everyone, I hope you're all safe and sound :) Interestingly the last weeks I actually played a lot of Heroes of Might and Magic 2, haha! I had a great time and set a new personal record on the "Broken Alliance" map with Thundax! @Ankheg Thank you for your kind words :) It means a lot to hear that my map has brought some joy to others! Here's a small update from me.~ Reghed Glacier ~ Spoiler This region is not part of the Icewind Dale game. It represents the Reghed Glacier which lies to the north-east on the Icewind Dale world map. I have added a little "oasis of warmth" in the frozen lands. This is inspired by the real region in the Forgotten Realms called "Evermelt". https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Reghed_Glacier~ Dragon's Eye exterior ~ Originally I already had a version of the Dragon's Eye exterior, but I have reworked it. I wanted it to have a sense of danger, dread and foreboding. You really don't wanna go there, unless you have a death wish that is... ;) Spoiler Quote Link to comment
