temnix Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 For example, stealth. Day and night, is it penalized? Quote
maus Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 SotSC is using day/night for different boni of items... Quote
temnix Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 What do you mean? And how does it do that, do you know? Quote
maus Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Well, I didn't take a look at the items itself. I just read this in the item description. But I guess that Lava has the technical knowledge to do that. Other items have different effects due to different alignments (good/neutral/evil) and this works ingame. Quote
temnix Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Alignments are easy. Well, easy enough. But I can't think of a way to take the hour into account, except when passing an effect through an invisible minion. Not for equipped effects at all. Quote
Endarire Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 From what I've heard, hide checks get a bonus if you're outside at night. I've not confirmed this. Infravision is shown in dark places but that isn't time-dependent. Quote
Gwendolyne Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 For example, blun38.itm gives a +1 bonus to hit rolls at night via a spell (effect #232). You could use the same trick to lower or increase stealth bonus... Quote
temnix Posted July 1, 2021 Author Posted July 1, 2021 Oh, that. Yes, that's possible. But I would like to know about stealth for sure, and besides, this isn't really what I meant. Not clock hours. I was thinking about the "Day/Night" ARE settings. An outdoor area usually has "Day/Night" enabled by default, though some don't. The ice island didn't, for example, it was locked in an arctic day before I changed that to arctic night in one of my mods. There is no way to lock an area in night really, so instead I kept it on permanent day but recolored the tileset. But it is possible to lock a "Day/Night" area in day. When it's night on the clock in an area and the flag is removed by a script, the area switches to the day appearance - I don't remember if it does that right away or the party has to wait until the normal daytime hours. In this way it's possible to install permanent daytime in an area even in-game. The question is, would that make any practical difference? Even without that would be pretty cool, but it's always better to make some impact. Quote
kjeron Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Stealth and Infravision are both affected by the day/night cycle (at least in areas that have such), as they are both affected by the area's lightmap. Quote
