BG2 Fixpack v3 Released

The BG2 Fixpack is a WeiDU compilation of fixes for Baldur's Gate II. We'd especially like to thank Bioware's David Gaider for his assistance in this release, clarifying several issues as to developer intent. With the disappearance of Kevin Dorner and the cessation of activity of the Baldurdash fixpack for BG2, several modders from many modding communities began working on a new WeiDU fixpack to address the numerous bugs that have been identified since Baldurdash. This collaborative effort, including the work of modders from several different modding communities, has resulted in a fixpack that currently includes all of the fixes addressed by Baldurdash (including the Game Text Update) and several hundred new bugfixes. The project is ongoing, and we're working through a substantial list of bugs culled from various sites, the old Baldurdash forums, and our own research. This release adds a new Italian translation (courtesy of Andrea C.), addresses the errors from the last release, expands existing fixes, and includes two new optional-but-cool components. Several new fixes have been added to the BETA Core Fixes component.

All of the documentation pages have been updated with new information for v3. Changes for v3:

  • Added Italian translation (thanks Andrea C.)
  • About 16 different fixes were consolidated (either partially or completely) into the new Immunities Don't Suppress All Effects fix, which streamlines and expands the fixes significantly
  • Added dummy files to various components to allow for easy detection by other mods
  • Added Fixed Bug That Prevents Saving Games (OS X Only) directly into the Core Fixes; it's a major bug but a very simple fix
  • Creature Alignment Corrections in the Core Fixes and Optional But Cool Additional Alignment Fixes were adjusted again, this time thanks to the help of David Gaider
  • Fixed exploit with Harper's Call Not Draining Stats as it could be used to kill enemies via stat drain
  • Fixed issue with Shadows of Amn Worldmap Fixes; the SoA version worked fine ingame but some index errors caused editors to report errors
  • Fixed bug with Nalia's Overly Effusive Gratitude fix; it was causing Nalia to always use the wrong dialogue when kicked out for other reasons
  • Cleric-Rangers Not Offered Temple Stronghold in BETA Core Fixes was expanded; it was working but was not covering every aspect of the temple stronghold, namely, the Dawn Ring quest and Sir Sarles quests were not being fully covered
  • Changed behavior of Many Scripts Not Checking the Correct Creatures/Objects fix with respect to Aran Linvail; the fix was working but it was causing compatibility issues. The isue is now fixed without the compatibility issues
  • Fixed bug with fixes to the CE quasit familiar; bad indices could occasionally cause crashes
  • After a review, it was deemed that the weapon speed change in the Staff of Curing Errors was not a fix and was dropped
  • Added two new Optional But Cool components: Change Free Action to Protect Against Stun and Paws from Shapeshifting Can Not Be Dispelled
  • Miscellaneous changes and fixes to the Game Text Update
  • Per David Gaider, the Optional But Cool component Additional Hero Quests in Trademeet Wait Until Hero is Officially Named has been moved into the Core Fixes
  • The following fixes were moved from the BETA Core Fixes to the Core Fixes:
    • Missing Reply Option in Svirfneblin Patrol Leader Dialogue
    • Docks Commoner Has Malformed Trigger
    • Elgea Has Malformed Trigger
    • Waukeen's Promenade Temple of Ilmater Has Wrong Character
    • Amalas' Buddies Not Leaving Together
    • Ust Natha Tavern Combat Music Would Never End
    • Valygar's Departure in the Slums Can Cause Cutscene Hang
    • Area Animation Glitches
    • Soldier Barracks in the Docks Has Reversed Entry and Exit Points
    • Offhand Weapons Could Provide Unintended Bonuses to Main Hand Weapon and Vice-Versa
    • Unsellable Items
    • Familiar Attacks Lack Icons
    • Incorrect Damage for Oil of Fiery Burning
    • Small Shields Erroneously Providing Protection Against Missiles
    • Assassin and Skald THAC0 Bonuses Not Displaying in Character Record
    • Dispel/Remove Magic Generating Spurious Magic Resistance Message

Let's say you have BG2 TOB, patch, fixpack (old version), dungeon be gone, ease of use: should you uninstall something before you install the last version of the fixpack? Thx.

Chosen of Cyric Weapon Not Displaying Portrait Icon or String

 

Heh, just a minor note here. The assassins which Cyric pits against the player during his ToB challenge are actually called Favored of Cyric (CHALCY02.CRE). OTOH, the Chosen of Cyric are a fanatical bunch from my Rogue Rebalancing mod. :)

aVENGER, are you (or perhaps someone from G3) planning on making an official announcement-post of the updated aPack? I hope so, as I want to start a FAQ based on it.

Well, yesterday I've sent a PM to CamDawg with a petition for a hosting my mod here on G3. I'm still waiting for his reply, but I suppose there shouldn't be any problems with that. Anyway, you are free to announce the new update of my mod wherever you like. :)

 

Oh, and BTW, it's just called the Rogue Rebalancing Mod from now on, since I've dropped some of the past components which are now contained in other G3 mods (with my permission).
