Guest Guest
Installed BG2 again after a long while and decided to go with a Duskblade (description seems nice enough), but when I created my character he came out with 300+ hitpoints! I thought I might have gone overboard a bit with mods, so I uninstalled BG2 again, deleted everything and made another fresh install.. this time only adding the G3 fixpack and the G3 tweaks to the game before installing the kits and nothing else... still came out with 300+ hitpoints. All other kits in the mod seem to work just fine (well, at least their hitpoints are in the expected range, I did not actually play them). Only component I have installed that might interfere with HP is from the tweak pack I believe. Ensuring that the hitpoints gained at level up are in the upper half of the spectrum (NWN style). Just a possible bug report, I'll find myself another kit to play with.. maybe the Duelist Quote Link to comment
berelinde
Funny you should mention a problem with the Duskblade kit. I installed it today, and started a Tutu game, with a Duskblade PC, and it went just fine. The character has 14 hp at first level, exactly what you'd expect for a character with an 18 con. I use "max hp" from Tweaks. Quote Link to comment
Guest me again
Funny you should mention a problem with the Duskblade kit. I use "max hp" from Tweaks. Welp, after reading your post I felt like wasting some more time, so after another clean install, I only installed 'Sword and Fist' and created a Duskblade (a indian looking, green dressed guy named "qwert" btw.) with 18 CON. Result, 142 HP. Seems normal for a lvl 18 (started in ToB 'cause there's no annoying intro sequence there) So far so good. Installed the G3 fix pack and created yet another indian looking guy dressed in green known as "asdf". 122 HP at CON 18. Other then the fact that he's unlucky that seems normal as well. Next step: installing the G3 tweaks with the exact same option chosen as in the previous installations and create yet another green indian, mr. "yxcv". He had no less then 420 HP. Then I only changed the tweak pack's HP at level up option from "NWN Style" to "Maximum". Green indian nr.4 (who's name escaped me) had 168 HP as you'd expect from a lvl18 Fighter Kit.. Not sure if this is the tweak pack's fault or the kit's (probably the letter cause the other kits worked just fine with NWN style HP) but there you have it. Guess I'll just do away with this option all together and set his HP to a reasonable level myself. Don't want max HP! Quote Link to comment
CamDawg
Sounds like the Duskblade may be picking up the barbarian flag somehow--the ridiculous HP is a side effect of a barbarian under the NWN-style HP boost. edit: Yep, it's being flagged as a barbarian to properly restrict items. I'm not sure Andy and Nick realized this would give it a the barbarian's base d12 HP roll, too. Edited February 17, 2008 by CamDawg Quote Link to comment
yarpen
Yup. I also had it. Edited February 19, 2008 by yarpen Quote Link to comment
Andyr
No, I didn't know that; though the d12 was hardcoded. Heh. Quote Link to comment
Guest Guest_guest_guest
Just installed this yesterday. I too got a duskblade with insane amounts of hitpoints. I manually "fixed" his hitpoints in shadowkeeper, but upon first level up received more than 30 hitpoints with a 16 con. Had to fix it again in shadowkeeper. Since this post dates back to 2008, and it's a couple of weeks from 2011, I suppose I would be a fool to hope for a fix, eh. Anyway to fix this myself. Any chance a mod would be willing to sticky a post that warns players of this bug? Seems like the right thing to do if the modder is "retired" (he belongs to "retired gibberling" group). Wow, when leveling from level 8 to level 9, I gained 48 hitpoints!! :/ Quote Link to comment
Miloch
It sounds like the "fix" is not to install this kit with the NWN-style HP (or similar) tweak. Quote Link to comment
Guest guest
It sounds like the "fix" is not to install this kit with the NWN-style HP (or similar) tweak. Yeah, I guess so. Of course, this fix means that I can't apply the NWN-style HP for all of my other party members, which I don't like. What I'm doing for the time being is just using shadow keeper to make things work out as if my duskblade had gained 7 - 8 base hitpoints. Hopefully once I'm past level 10 I will receive the correct number of hitpoints (3 per level). If not, and I'm getting 4, like a barbarian, or more, then I may need to figure out a command line way of removing a number of hitpoints from max hitpoints, as going to shadowkeeper every time will get tedious. It's unfortunate, because otherwise this kit is really nice, and is a nice change of pace for me. Quote Link to comment
Guest Guest
Me again. I thought I'd drop a quick update that after gaining enough experience for level 10, I received the standard 3 hitpoints for a fighter. This is very much a relief that I won't be forced to perform surgery on my character after every level. Quote Link to comment
CamDawg
This is fixed for the EEs at least. Quote Link to comment
