Xanthul Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Hello, Would it be possible to have a mod that randomizes NPC locations so you get random NPCs at the start (except possibly Imoen for continuity reasons) and never know where to find each NPC?
Icendoan Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I can't see a technical reason why not... Making it work with mods might be tricky. Also, Viconia is a bit of an issue for randomization. Icen
berelinde Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 There really aren't that many NPCs that have movable start locations. Aerie: She's got to be in the circus tent. Anomen: He could probably be in any tavern in Athkatla, but his dialogue refers to the Copper Coronet, and it has a reputation for attracting adventurers. Cernd: He's got to be in the cell in Trademeet. Edwin: He's got a job to do. Jaheira: She should have stayed in Baldur's Gate For her dialogue to make sense, she needs to have been in Irenicus' dungeon. Jan: He has several other NPCs tied to his location. Moving him would be a pain. Keldorn: He's got to be in the sewers. Korgan: See Anomen. Mazzy: She's got to be in her cell. Nalia: She's recruiting adventurers to help her, so the CC makes sense. Minsc: He's got to start in his cage. Valygar: He's got to start outside Athkatla, but I suppose he could start somewhere else in the Umar Hills. Maybe he went to the tavern for a pint? Viconia: She's got to start out tied to her stake. Yoshimo: Got to start in CI.
Miloch Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 You could add a script (or script blocks) to all NPCs that could move around and have them randomly wander around between areas etc. Have it skipped of course if the NPC has joined (or if you tell them specifically to wait somewhere).
Xanthul Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 Yeah I guess it would take a lot of dialogue editing to be able to really move them around. Thanks for the input.
WizWom Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 perhaps something with text tokens might work for those that start in the CC - but I think it would be pretty clumsy.
