IwD-in-BGII, BGT starting XP

Question... the IwD-in-BGII should start at level 1... and the character in the picture has vanilla BG2 start XP(89000), does the IwD-in-BGII'ed GemRB need to correct that ? The BGT might need it as well.

Other than that... looking pretty good.

there is a GemRB 2DA file someplace in the BG2 subfolder of gemrb override folder that controls starting XP. normally the mods patch the EXE to accomplish that, obviously that wont work with GemRB and is also luckily not needed.

gemrb/override/bg2/clskills.2da probably, can be patched with weidu

symlink?

I think since windows vista, windows has something equivalent.

Or it could be Gemrb to detect IWG and use the altered table.

This would be WeiDU's work. One reason to make weidu GemRB aware (as proposed earlier).

I still don't know what would be the best solution, but environment variables should work on all platforms and generally used for this kind of stuff.

i think it'd be easiest to copy gemrb's override to the gamepath as a separate folder and mod it there. That way weidu doesn't have to know anything about any gemrb path (if the initial copy is manual or by gemrb). Both would just need to take into account the extra search path (trivial for us).

And don't forget compatibility with TobEx added 2da files and behaviors. If you're going to reimplement them (and you probably should), it's much easier for mods to install tobex as a requirement and you using the same files and paths than have another section for "Gemrb files".

Yeah, it is definitely easier to have a single format. Problem is, GemRB supports more or different formats already, because of the different official games or because we simply developed features independently from ToBEx. We already made efforts to synchronise stuff that is possible to make the same, as you probably know.

GemRBOverridePath .

So, if GemRBOverridePath is read only it is impossible to override engine files without copying GemRBOverridePath content to new location and changing gemrb.cfg?

It is still easier to modify a 2da than patch the exe. The files in GemRBOverridePath are only to be used to implement hardcoded original engine features or totally new gemrb features.
