The one I wrote first was too Mary-Sueish; the standard one is too presumptious, Solaufein-style plus as Kulyok once pointed out an Elf should not be ressurectable after vampire transition. So, upon careful consideration, I decided that the mod is better off without one. There is plenty of content though as is, and I'd rather put in an additional dialogue about the elves and vampirism than send the players on the traditional jogg to the Temple of Amunator.

I think that Bioware made a mistake, and it is not good to encourage people to repeat it. But of course, as jcompton already suggested, it would not look good if one elf gets permanently killed during a vampire transition and another does not. So, one must search for other ways... or avoid the encounter entirely.

I disagree--Aerie and Viconia are both ressurectable after this encounter, so it's consistent and possible within the scope of BG2.

 

It is consistent and possible, but it is also well... repetitive, and, again, in Kivan's case, not justified, as he is not your lover per se at this point. In fact he is in a mire of his grief for Deheriana's permanent death, just reported to him in Spellhold. I really disliked it in Solaufein's mod that he gets abducted no matter what, even when another man is your love interest. I am painstackingly trying to avoid Kivan stealing spotlight and turning into Mary-Sue, dear as he is to me.

Fair enough--I just wanted to verify that the resurrection issue wasn't the only reason for excluding this.

Good point there. Okay, apology accepted. :p By the way, are you planning to continue the romance in ToB? Would me sense to me as it is in such an early stage when returning to Athkatla.

It would make a perfect sense, yes, but unfortunately, my every plan for ToB romance involves going to Shilmista, where Kivan gets healed by communion with his land and his people, the PC solves a great mystery in the bargain, and I lack resources to do it properly. So, again, rather than doing it half-heartedly, I'd rather not do it at all.

That sounds (sounded?) more than promising... But what exactly do you lack? Taking a year break after SOA portion is done does not seem a big issue to me. As for Shilmista itself, what could go wrong? Four pages of scenery dialogue, stealing bits and pieces from BG1 and re-assembling them into a new area, creating an item or two?

 

If the story demanded that there be no TOB portion, I would be the first one to agree with your choice, but as it is, it seems to me that leaving the story hanging in mid-air after SOA is not the best design decision. Of course, there is also a question of me wishing to complete the relationship with Kivan, but it is immaterial.

A number of problems:

 

-I still have to finish SoA portion (a few months)

-I need a *lot* more than 4 pages of scenery dialogue. I cannot write it alone.

-I need to integrate 2 joinable NPCs into ToB (yes, Kivan *and* Deheriana) and to write a quest in such a way that it counts D in or out.

-I need to write ToB romance

-I need at least 4 major areas (Mountain Path, Encampment, Tree City and Spirit Soaring) with the Mountain Path that Hendyk made in a rough and I like it, the Encampment he made that I can live with, but I saw a better map to base it off)

-I need a gothic cathedral placeable (for which I have an almost-the-good-angle jpeg)

-I need the bloody magical Hill of the Stars

-The story in Shilmista that I had thought I had had become so confused, that I don't know up from down any more

-The story includes Drow

-I need a way to integreate it all in the game

-It all needs an editor

-My time is very limited, unless I take a year off from my job or something

-I owe a couple of time-cosumming modding commitments already

-I have a RL goal achieving which will effectively put an end to all kind of hobbies

-I really want to give the IWDx6 project a shot and that will most probably involve creative coding

-Who is going to want to play it in another 2 years when DA is going to be out?

Getting Deheriana and Kivan would be tough in ToB. If you took the romance, Deheriana wouldn't pop up whereas, if you didn't take Kivan at all she wouldn't come up. But then again, that spirit thing (I forgot the name) can take "threads" from anywhere. But with Yoshimo being dead... It may have something to do with the Geas?

 

If you need help with ideas, then you can ask me, I'm very good with this sort of thing, but I cannot help with making mods or anything like that. If you need help with that sort of thing then you might ask someone who made other mods like Return to Trademeet or something.

 

You have my, and countless others', eternal support in this project.

There is no 'Fate Spirit' Kivan. The two ways to bring him into ToB are either romancing him, or both ressurecting and restoring Deheriana. In all other cases he departs beyound reach in the end of SoA.

 

I am not short on ideas, I am short on time, skill and energy. :D
