subtledoctor
Yup. I forgot to include Epic Thieving in my current game and I’m kicking myself, because I like the idea of it. Quote Link to comment
subtledoctor
Heads up everyone: there is a potentially nasty bug that was introduced via a typo connected to the new Elegiast bard kit, in the Revised Bards component. It can screw up access to spells of certain schools, to certain kits. I have made a hotfix mod for anyone who has installed MnG v4.5. To simplify the distribution of hotfix mods, I'm going to collect them together in a single Github repository. (I think.) Currently this is the only hotfix contained there. Get the fix over here. I'll introduce a mod update ASAP, just working on one other fix. If you are planning to install mods and are planning to include MnG, I highly highly highly recommend that you wait until I release v4.6. Quote Link to comment
subtledoctor
Okay, as promised, here is the update to version 4.6, which fixes that bug, and should also improve the experience of fighters and thieves with feats dual-classing to cleric or druid, and should also curb the reappearance of fighters' fighting stances. Cheers. Quote Link to comment
subtledoctor
I've updated the mod to version 4.7, which makes a small but notable change for Revised Bards. Previously, several bard kits learned extra spells automatically: the Bard got sound-related spells like Shout and Silence; the Meistersinger got nature-related spells like Entangle and Animal Summoning; the Jinxer got curse-ish spells like Doom and Malison; etc. These spells went right into the bards' spellbooks, and the main advantage came from most of them being unavailable to arcane casters. Let's remember the way these bards work. They learn spells from scrolls, and memorize a few when resting, and then the next day they can cast those memorized spells spontaneously. They can learn a lot of spells, like a mage; they have a good number of casting slots, like a sorcerer; their primary limitation is in only being able to choose a small number of spells to memorize at each spell level. It is nice to get the free spells described above put into your spellbook, but in order to use them, you have to prioritize them in your very limited memorization slots. This crowds out other spells that might be important to memorize. As of v4.7, you no longer have to memorize your kit's bonus spells; they will be available to cast along with the spells you memorize each day. This is similar to a shaman's bonus spells: as a shaman you can pick and choose druid spells as you level up, but every time you press that 'cast spell' button, the special shaman-only spells are there, available to cast alongside the spells you have learned. This should give bards a bit more flexibility in how they use magic, and should accentuate each kit's special bonus spells without having to sacrifice precious memorization slots. EDIT - note, for technical reasons, this means that you will not see the kit's bonus spells in your spellbook. In one respect this is unfortunate, because the spellbook is a nice place to review your known spells and read spell descriptions, etc. But that information is mostly useful for the purpose of making decisions, like "what to memorize?" whereas with these bonus spells, there is no decision to make because they are always available. (They are sort of like innate kit abilities, but more flexible for using casting slots.) I worry that having them be in your spellbook might be confusing, because players might see them and think they need to put them in memorization slots; that would be wasteful, and there is no way for me to prevent it. So I remove them from the spellbook, and if you want to read the spell descriptions you can right-click on the spell in the main game screen. EDIT - although, now that I think about it, while having those spells visible in you spellbook might be confusing, it would have the benefit of making them available for sequencers and contingencies (if you install option #5 of TnB’s Revised Sequencers). That is no small thing... Edited June 13, 2020 by subtledoctor Quote Link to comment

Guest Thacobell
Sorry about the triple post, but I apparently cannot edit posts as a guest. Removing Faiths and Powers allowed Might and Guile to install properly. The M&G readme on Github states that F&P should be installed before M&G, but apparently this breaks M&G. Using M&G version v.4.7 and F&P v.0.75.21.1 Quote Link to comment
Guest Thacobell
Oh great. But installing Might and Guile first completely breaks Faiths and Powers and I can't install it at all. Quote Link to comment

Wait, there's TWO different versions on Github, and only one is up to date? There should probably be something saying as much on the respective pages. I might have noticed I was on a very old version if my hard dive hadn't died recently and I couldn't compare versions to what I was using previously. Thanks for the quick reply. Quote Link to comment

Endarire
@subtledoctor Between the subtledoctor branch of mods and the UnearthedArcana branch of mods, which should we use when and why? Edited June 20, 2020 by Endarire Quote Link to comment
subtledoctor
In general, the highest version number that has an actual release on its “releases” page. For FnP, the latest Unearthed Arcana release is v0.75. The latest Subtledoctor release is 0.79. Therefore, use the Subtledoctor version. (If and when you see an 0.80 release, then switch to that one.) Same holds for Tome & Blood. Current release is 0.8 under the Subtledoctor fork. (If and when Aquadrizzt releases an 0.9, then switch to that one.) Quote Link to comment
