  1. I think the logic was that it is easier for the modder to remember the English name of the area. I have to admit that I prefer it.
  2. That's funny. I've been RP'ing clerics for 30 years, PnP and CRPG, and there are times I've wondered if they aren't overpowered. I guess it's how you play.

    Meet Gavin

It's in progress. I've got other projects that take priority at the moment, but they all have relatively short deadlines, so I hope to be able to move to BG2 soon. Thanks for the interest.
  4. The one time I tried it with a male cleric PC, it didn't work. He even was compassionate during the friendtalks. I'd really like it to work, because I don't want to have to include Cernd or Aerie in my party.
  5. The magnitude of recoding a separate BG1 NPC Project for vanilla BG, where the coding involved is a series of workarounds, makes me feel faint. Even if such a thing were possible, the effort involved would be mind boggling, and the target audience very small. And who would draw the line about what was edited out? Most of the principal writers are no longer on the project, and I doubt anyone would be comfortable making these hard decisions on their behalf. So, while it would be nice to please those with BG1 vanilla installations, I don't really anticipate a workable solution that would satisfy anyone.
  6. Thanks! Already, you've made my life easier.
  7. Can we please have this stickied? Pretty please?
  8. It would involve changing a travel trigger from the FAI, at the very least. I'm a dialogue gal. I don't know a darned thing about that, but I know there are people that do. I'd like to take this offline, if you don't mind. Maybe there's a way to make it happen.
  9. Coran's popularity would have been much, *much* higher had he been available earlier. By the time most people get to Cloakwood, they're already in love with someone else. Move Coran to the Beregost temple, having just collected the quest from Ormlyr himself, and lengthen or eliminate his wyvern timer, and I wager people would be swooning all over him. He's got some great material.
  10. So, are you saying you want your chicken soup by the fire? That could probably be arranged.
  11. That's it, from now on, if I'm going to post a poll, I'm going to have an option for "I just don't vote in polls." I think people just click on see results and never bother voting.
  12. I wonder if it's too late to add an option...
  13. That is also a valid option. With 6 romances in BG1 NPC plus Kivan, you've got lots of replayability options.
  14. There's your first mistake. No playing of computer games when you should be modding! Not true, really. It makes a nice break, as long as it isn't the same computer game you're modding for. I'm looking forward to the end of Gavin's current (and hopefully last) alpha run so I can give Tutu a rest for a bit. And I do plan to break up stretches of BG2 modding with some IWD2.
  15. Yeah, I'll add my agreement to this!

    Meet Gavin

Gavin Mor is a neutral good kitted cleric of Lathander. He will join your party outside the Song of the Morning Temple in Beregost. He starts out with fairly standard cleric gear, a family momento, and a dislike of bandits. Gavin will want to know if your party is a force of goodness. Don't lie to Gavin. It isn't nice. He was born in Ulgoth's Beard, and is 28. For the last 9 years, he has been serving the Song of the Morning Temple in Beregost. Although he has done a fair amount of travelling on temple business, and has been toughened by a life of hard work and devotion, he never really thought of himself as an adventurer. Everything changes sooner or later, though. He has been through a bit of a rough spot, lately, and thinks he would do well in the company of like-minded individuals, going out into the world and doing some good. Gavin is not the most ambitious man on Faerun. Nor is he necessarily the bravest. He wishes he were, but he suffers from a good imagination. Gavin has 2-5 banters with every BioWare NPC. At this writing, there is cross-mod content for the Baldur's Gate NPC Project, but there is no cross-mod content for any other Tutu mod. Gavin will be failry talkative throughout your journey, with a friendship track consisting of 16 friendship-only talks for a good or neutral protagonist and a romance track of 30 talks. Gavin makes dozens of interjections, and there may be a couple super-sneaky banters along the way. He has definite ideas about right and wrong. He will not stay with a party whose reputation drops below 4. Please note that this differs from most good NPCs, who leave at 1 or 2. He participates in 2 existing quests and has one quest of his own. Gavin has a custom soundset, but does not have other voicing at this time. Gavin will be romanceable by any good-aligned female of any race, but he is rather choosy. He will not romance assassins, bounty hunters, or necromancers of any alignment. Reputation matters. A reputation of 11 or better is required to start, 15 or better to continue. He is looking for something rather special, and some qualities attract him more than others. He likes his women to be mature, so certain dialog options are going to annoy him. Gavin admires a strong leader, so a charisma of 12 or better and a wisdom of 10 or better are required. He will not tolerate outright cruelty.
  17. In a way, secrecy is preserved. Finding this list is a pain in the neck.
  18. Only have 2 seats, and one of them has to be the pc. I'm thinking ranger pc and Yoshi/Imoen because I happen to like Imoen, but that's just me. Who am I kidding. I'm never going to actually be able to play this to completion. Or maybe I might. Depends. I *am* going to have to do another run through just to reaffirm my interjection points...
  19. Not a hard mistake to make, though. Ambiguous nickname, picture of a woman, on a forum about an incredibly hot NPC... had me fooled. But it's nice to see that men aren't completely ignoring Aklon. I was beginning to think that poor BigRob would be all by himself here, among all these women lusting after... Aklon.
  20. Hmmm. Valid point. Forgot about Aerie. I usually just peg her as "redundant" and tend to forget that she can actually do stuff every once in a while. And I was bemoaning the fact that poor, doomed-to-be-rejected Anomen would have to hold the frontline all by himself. I'm not confident enough using monks to want to risk Aklon until I've practiced a bit. I've run a lot of paladins. Maybe I'll just do a straight fighter or a ranger for a change of pace. Or, maybe I'll be too busy modding myself to play anyway.
  21. Lemme see... Aklon (well, duh!), Anomen, Aerie, Haer'Dalis, and I'm going to need a thief and a mage. And one of them has to be the PC, so, maybe PC as a fighter/mage and Yoshimo/Imoen?
  22. ToB will be a walk in the park after SoA. No new relationships or conflicts, everyone is in a holding pattern leading up to the grand finale. That, and it's shorter.
  23. Work is a jealous lover: when you've got something you need to do that does not involve it, it just demands more attention. Such is always the way of things.
  24. Every time I see the word Pharmacopeia, I always think of the United States Pharmacopeia, a massive tome detailing lots of things to do with drugs, drug components, dietary supplements, and anything that might contain the phrase "active ingredient," like sunscreen, mouthwash, over-the-counter cold tablets, deodorant, or hand lotion. It weighs about 15 pounds (exageration), and has numerous supplements. After spending any amount of time with it, I know I always feel laid back, if "out cold" could be considered laid back.
  25. Ooh, here's a nasty one. Suppose Aklon has already chosen the pc over Aerie, but then the pc goes and chooses CN Anomen over Aklon. That would make for some good drama when Anomen and Aerie spar.
