  1. Hmmm. Trying to answer that question without too many spoilers. Well, there's a part of Quest Pack's extended Shadow Thief quest that you won't be able to complete if you work for the paladins... and you won't be able to recruit Fade if you work for the paladins, but apart from that, there are no incompatibilities that I am aware of. Some of my testers had extremely heavily modified installations, so it seems to play nice with other mods. I should point out that there's a mod out there that populates the Shadow Thief headquarters with odd creatures. It wasn't Alternatives.
  2. Alternatives offers two new possibilities to consider when making the decision about whether to side with the Shadow Thieves or with Valen's Mistress. In addition to the traditional two, the player may now opt to side with a group even the paladins in the party could have no objection to... or he may opt to skip the whole decision entirely and set sail for Maztica. Alternatives also offers a different way to satisfy Mae Var's demand that the protagonist steal an artifact from a temple. It is nearly impossible for a lawful good character to go through the game and remain completely true to his or her alignment. Siding with thieves is not a very lawful thing to do, nor is allying with undead a particularly good deed. The "Paladin Route" offers a third option, the ability to work for an unimpeachably good organization and eliminate two evils. The "Assassin Route" came about a bit later, as a result of some musing about how a character who has no real interest in either rescuing Imoen or going out of his or her way to take revenge on Irenicus might want to avoid the whole decision entirly and get the hells out of Amn. Jastey never liked the concept of stealing prized artifacts from temples while running errands for Mae Var, so she created a work-around for that, as well. The latter component is also incorporated in Jastey's Ajantis mod, so Ajantis is installed, the "Temple Thievery Alternative" component will not be installed. Both new options begin after Valen and Brus make their traditional appearances. To begin the "Paladin Route," visit the Government District after speaking with Brus. To begin the "Assassin Route," go to the Slums, where a garishly dressed nobleman by the name of Malficus will make an attractive offer. He is standing outside the Copper Coronet, not far from the road that leads to the southern entrance to the Slums. Once the protagonist has committed to performing the first task of the "Paladin Route," all other paths are disabled, but it is possible to do two of the three tasks Malficus sets before you and then change sides. To access the "Temple Thievery Alternative" options, speak to people in the temple about your concerns. SUGGESTIONS: When one deals with dishonorable people, some treachery and double-dealing is only to be expected. Also, when embarking on a new venture, it is always advisable to tie up loose ends first. Thieves, especially, or those wishing to get to know Renal Bloodscalp a little better or recruit a certain Red Wizard, would be well advised to complete all thieves' guild tasks prior to going to the Five Flagons in or making any final arrangements with Malficus. The quest givers of both routes will warn you when you are approaching the point of no return.
  3. SAY BIO ~(wall of text)~ Dunno, but I'm hoping he trims it down, at least a little bit.
  4. I've got music accompanying a voiced chapter screen at the end of Fading Promises. I think it was PlaySong(0) //blank song PlaySound("MySong") //gets music going TextScreen("MyChap") //play chapter screen Then, if it's voiced, stick a sound tag at the end of the TRA.
  5. Game Banshee remarks on the phenomenon here. It doesn't sound like you're asking us to fix this bug in the unmodified game, for which I, for one, am thankful, but rather if we can tell you something to try to get the sequence to play normally. Unfortunately, all I can tell you to do is reload an earlier save and try it again. That's about all I can tell you to do for any of the 700 places the script can glitch.
  6. I always limit my rangers to leather or studded leather armor. Rangers tend to be dex fighters, so slapping them in plate makes no sene. Sometimes, though, I'll let them wear the Shadow Dragon armor. I've got mixed feelings about earlier spell use. On the one hand, having to wait until 8th level to cast a spell is a big penalty. Cleric THACO tables aren't that much worse than fighters', to justify the wait. But then, regular fighters don't ever get to cast spells.
  7. Yes, you can have both men in the party. There may be some surprises, but you can easily have both men in the party, and keep both men in the party despite the surprises.
  8. Only to a degree. I don't know if the "summon cow" spell was ever meant to be a serious endeavor. Lucy the Wyven certainly wasn't. The latter was a joke mod, thrown together in 45 minutes, including testing, that allowed the player to interact in specific way with Lucy, the wyvern in the Adventure Mart. Basically, it came about because one of the forum regulars at SHS jokingly said that he wanted a mod that would turn Lucy into a cheerleader if you kissed her. I think I threw in a little more dialogue than that, but that was the gist of it. It isn't something you'd want to have on every install, but it's a fun way to throw in a little variety.
  9. Received the files. Thanks! I can't make the changes until after 2/14, but stuff that includes code gets priority! Gods, how I love the flexibility of WeiDU. I have gained a new appreciation for it, after a sojurn in NWN2-land, where everything has to be overwritten.
  10. No, it's my fault. I wasn't reading carefully enough. I saw Faldorn and Ajantis and thought you were doing a BG1/BG2 character, but Ajantis is a mod NPC, and Faldorn was probably an oops. So never mind, dumb question!
  11. "Lathnder's golden poop?" How... dainty! Seriously, though, love his interactions, but you're forgetting Dynaheir! A mature woman, smart and beautiful... he'd be a lost man. And what about Branwen? I would't expect him to like Shar-Teel much.
  12. A little something for Icelus' amusement.
  13. You ain't kidding. I had my NWN2 mod 95% done, and poof. glad to hear you're still moving forward, though!
  14. You're on a Vista machine, aren't you. Vista is a pain, when it comes to it's Program Files directory. It's a little late to be giving this advice now, but you're much better off creating a separate directory that isn't Program Files to install games of any kind. On my machine, the path to my NWN2 installation is c:\gaming\NWN2 It lets me get around all that "Thou shalt not modify anything in the Programs Files directory" Vista garbage.
  15. Yeah, unless you're reinstalling something near the end of your weidu.log, you're probably better off starting over, either with a clean backup or by uninstalling the game, deleting the folder and starting over. I've seen too many weird things to risk anything else. Scrambled strings, mangled scripts, no spawns, infinite spawns, you name it.

    Meet Gavin

Sure. If you wanted to change classes, you could just use ShadowKeeper, and then initiate dialogue with him. There's an option in the non-friendship PID that says something to the effect of "Can we be friends?" That will start the friendship.
  17. I'd pretty much agree with your assessment, Cal Jones.
  18. All the best to you! You'll be missed, but, as Nythrun says, there's no better reason to pass on the torch.
  19. Well, then, imagine how surprised he'd be if she did bend over! I can almost hear him sputtering and appologizing...
  20. It was a joke. If a guy wanted to peek down a woman's dress, he'd ask her if the twenty-dollar bill lying on the ground was hers. Who wouldn't bend over to look for a twenty-dollar bill? But somehow, I just don't see Ajantis resorting to such crude tactics for a peek.
  21. "You've got something in your hair" "Do I have dirt on my face?" "I think you have an eyelash in your eye" (I use this one in Gavin, though) "You have something on your sleeve" (great excuse to touch an arm) "Is that your twenty?" (Oops, that one works better for women in low-cut dresses) "Can you reach that flower? I want one for my hair." "Want to go out for a coffee/beer/smoothie/drink?" "That strap is loose. Can I get it for you?"
  22. Try checking your browser security settings. Since the Vault does offer mods for download, it is erroneously flagged as a hazard by some ISPs. Yes, I know this is ridiculous. But it won't hurt.
