This was not what I meant. I was aware the link to the download's page is already there.

Then I must have misunderstood what was your concern. It doesn't change the fact that it does look a bit like it was downloaded directly from CoB site. My intention was to spare people some mouse clicking, but I have added myself additional work in the process. And the benefit is probably not that great anyway.

Making the list more resilient against updates plus preventing you from burning out is a huge point. But also my illogical fear of players missing crucial information and borking their game by blindly installing things adds to me preferring it this way.

As I wrote before, the link to mod site is already there, it's just a separate download link that lead directly to a file. But I understand your doubts, that it may look like mod is hosted on CoB site.

Changing all links may take some time, though.

  3. Ok, I decided to change all download link to lead to general download page, not the file itself. This will take some time, but it also means I'll have much less headache while updating the list. Of course, for mods that don't have a site and/or their own download section, I'll leave download link as it is now (which usually leads to an offsite Dropbox megashare space). In case of github hosted mods, that doesn't have Release section, I'll probably also leave a download link to a master version.

SR has always been lowercase, SRR deliberately changes them to uppercase to match the game's original formatting. At some point in the future, I may make an EE-specific change that sets them back to lowercase along with some other EE-like formatting changes, but it's not exactly a high priority.

Oh please do, I hate the upper case. I always change it locally to lower case. Pretty please 🙃

What is needed is content work: creating descriptions

Well, that part might be problematic. A while ago, Cam was looking for someone who could help writing descriptions for the proper implementation of a Tracking ability, but there was zero response. But I'd really love to see this coming, god knows, this game lacks of good bestiary.

My personal dream would be to linked it also with Lore value. The higher the lore, the more complete bestiary description. But this is just a musing from my side.

(Confirming Dragonspear UI++ is EET compatible from Pecca before I declare it here.)

Not the original version, but the fork from meowdog (anongit github) is compatible with EET. Use it if you want to play EET on patch 2.6.6. There is also another version by skusha that fixes some things, which was later updated by artyfox. All in all, I have no clue which version is now the most updated. Everyone seems to work on Pecca's mod on their own.. Just browse the original topic on Beamdog, maybe you will get some sense out of it.

BTW, doesn't that mean you need to update every time the file has a unique link? I know it's not an often thing, but that feels like a waste time. And let's say you want to take a break: the list will get outdated pretty soon. If I were you, I would spare myself the constant thinking about changing download links.

This is an issue, true, but so far it's only a problem with Dropbox links of Weasel mods (the direct link is not working for your mods shared on official site for some reason, so the links lead to download site) and those G3 mods that have Mac/Linux versions (here the link usually leads to version for other OS after mod update). But yes, this is actually one of the reasons I see changing the links might be a good idea. Saving me a headache is always a good idea :)

The next column ("WWW") links to the mod site ("Strona) and/or mod forum ("Forum")

Let me reiterate this part. This means that there is a direct link to an original mod site and/or mod forum. This way, anyone can visit mod site/forum, clicking on "Strona" or "Forum" link, respectively. It's not that I don't offer a link to mod info on any of the mod lists I maintain.

The download link leading to a direct download is just for convenience - to save some mouse clicks. As I understood, the concern was more that due to the fact that some people will download the mod directly through CoB site, the original mod site itself will have fewer entries (the mod is still downloaded from the original mirror, so the download counter will increase either way). Also, I can understand that some may be hesitant to download mods directly from some foreign, unknown site. That's why I'd like to hear your opinion on the matter. I don't have the strong opinion towards any of the solutions (besides the fact that I'd need to change all the links in case option second wins).

I realize it would be great each mod would have a short description, unfortunately I don't have time to provide it for all mods, I barely have time to keep those lists updated at the moment.

Sometimes the note says NIE, and sometimes it says BRAK. Shouldn't it be somehow... unified?

Thanks, Lava, I'll unify it when I have a chance.

  9. Hello G3 community!

For quite some time, I'm maintaining a kind of repository of BGEE/BG2EE mods on a Polish site, Children of Bhaal. These lists can be found here:

Since the lists are maintained on a Polish site, it can be a bit confusing for non-Polish speakers to navigate, so here are some tips:

    • The first column ("Pobierz") is essentially a direct download link to the latest version of the mod (if such a direct link is possible to set). There are a couple of abbreviations behind the link that hint the source of the download (i.e SHS, G3, Beamdog, etc). When you see the source "Inny", it means the download link is in Dropbox, Mediafire or other provider of such.
    • The second column ("PL") is strictly for Polish users and tells them if mod has Polish version or not.
    • The central column shows the following mod information: name of the mod, author and/or maintainer of the mod, Polish translator(s) (if available), version of the mod and the date the mod was added/updated on the list. There is a following colour coding introduced: a) for BGEE - white (mod is compatible with BGEE and SoD), brown (mod is compatible with BGEE but not SoD), gold (mod is also compatible with EET); b) for BG2EE - white (mod is compatible with BG2EE), gold (mod is also compatible with EET).
    • The next column ("WWW") links to the mod site ("Strona) and/or mod forum ("Forum")
    • The last column ("CoB") links to the support thread on Children of Bhaal forum and is less relevant for English users.

Now, some time ago it came to my attention that the direct download link may not be an ideal solution from mod makers' perspective, since one can download mod without actually visiting the mod site, directly from the mod list on Children of Bhaal site. I have set up the direct links mainly from convenience reasons, putting a lot of effort to set the links the way they can lead to the last official release (or pre-release), assuming that players would appreciate they can download the mod in the quickest possible way. Besides, there is a separate column ("WWW) that leads to official mod site and/or forum, if the player wants to visit them to learn more about a mod. But, on the other hand, I understand where this objection comes for and that's why I'd like to ask how do you prefer download links work on those lists:

    1. Direct link (current implementation): Example - Tweaks Anthology
    2. Link to download site: Example - Tweaks Anthology

Due to my limited time, switching to a second implementation will take some time, but if there is a real demand for it, I'm willing to do it.

Looking forward to your opinion on this and on the lists in general. Please have in mind that I'm only the maintainer of the list, so more complex code changes I'd need to report to the site owner to implement, which may or may not be problematic.

  10. Personally, I have been waiting for K4thos IWD-in-EET (as a part of EET project) rather than checking this version on Arcane Coast, but at this point I doubt it will ever be finished (I know I'm doom and gloom about it, but can't help it). From what I remember K4thos started a discussion about setting up IWD (and IWD2) in a way that would not require some silly time travel or other weird ideas, but I'm not sure what was the consensus of this discussion.

Maybe if tipun's version was adverised on English forums, it would have more attention. Without it, it's unreasoble to expect people go to some Russian site and try to decipher how this mod works.

  11. @morpheus562if you want some inspirstion for psionic related kits, you may want to check this old mod: Psionic Unleshed. It's development was discontinued years ago, and I'm pretty sure it won't work with 2.6.6, but you may pick up one or two got d ideas. From what I remember it was taking inspiration from D&D 3.5 psionics. Completely different approach than in Subtledoctor's Might & Guile, the one that I'm more find of, to be honest.

  12. So, what exactly is the difference for having "Optional but cool" component and "Optional but cool" mod? The way I see it, in second case you need to install two mods instead of one.

No one will suggest optional component as something mandatory to install, I wouldn't worry about it much. I get the argument that this might be more difficult to debug, though. That's a good point actually.

I'd say if something is a fix, even if controversial or established as something that may not have been developer intention, then it should find its place in EE Fixpack and optional component would be a perfect fit.

Only if it's a necessary fix, e.g. a fiend not being evil so "Protection against Evil" doesn't work on it. If it's solely a "make creature alignments mor like P&P", then that's a tweak that could go into a mod with that name. My opinion. I have a faint recall there was a huge discussion about this for the BG2FP.

Sure, that's a sensible approach. I do recall there were also cases that falls into this category (like some few orcs being neutral not evil, which looked like an ommission, because I don't see how those specific orcs are different from the rest). Some of my findings were indeed more of a "matching PnP" approach, true, but some I think was glaring enough that could be considered bugs. Anyway, can't open the thread anymore, but possibly @CamDawgcan. As I've said I'll leave the decision if it's worth persuing or not to you guys 😉 Anyway I just recall about this, and thought I'll add this under consideration.

  14. Interesting, I didn't realise there is such component in BG1UB (or simply forgot about it). Still, it worth be checking if those corrections cover some of my findings. Unfortunately, since the thread in BD forum was in betatesting subforum, I lost access to it and cannot open it myself to crosscheck. Also, I think Oversight touches this area, but I'm not sure if this mod is compatible with the current 2.6.6 patch. Anyway guys, it's your call if this is worth fixing as a part of EE Fixpack or not 😉

  15. Back in the beta testing days of EEs I've reported a bunch of alignment inconsistencies for quite a lot of creature files, but BD was not interested in fixing those back then. I remember I went through each file comparing creature alignment with PnP sources, finding cases, where outright evil creatures had neutral or even good alignments. Is it something that would fit within the scope of EE Fixpack? If yes, I would be inclined to do the job of finding those inconsistencies once again (unfortunately I cannot find this thread on BD forum anymore).

What Graion is talking about is a 'hidden' option I added in the config file. By default, Unique Icons will only replace an icon only if it hasn't been replaced by another mod (or in some cases, the EE itself)--for example, BG2EE already provides a new Robe of Vecna icon, so you'll never get the one from Lava. If you want all of these icons regardless, just enable this option in cdtweaks.txt (or cdteaks.disabled.txt) at the bottom:

So, if I want Unique Icons to patch all items from Item Revisions, I need to enable this option, right?

  17. @Mordekaieto be honest it was a long time ago already and I don't really remember specifics of this install anymore. I can say that I didn't have install errors back then with this set up. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to actually play this playthrough, so I didn't have a chance to test thoroughly how various mods interact with each other. But on the other hand I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary on the first glance, when it comes to portraits.

Thank you for your constant work on this!

Would you put a link to the lists in your signature and is there a place to report link changes? I think it's one (two) of the best lists currently available.

Good idea. Will do later afternoon after work.

And thanks one more time for your list, it is lifesaver although there are still many mods scattered on various hard to find places.

I have added some smaller gems hidden on Beamdog forum to my lists, but I'm sure there are still more buried under other topics. If anyone funds a mod that works for BGEE, BG2EE or EET (and preferably compatible with patch 2.6.6) that is not present on my modlist, please ping me and I'll add it.

  20. @Greenhornmods colored gold on those lists are EET compatible (either natively or by installing them before EET). I have set up download github links the way it should always download the latest release version (or master if there are no release tags), even if the version number on the list was not updated. The download link is under column "Pobierz". The mod site is under tag "Strona".

IIRC Mysteries of the Sword Coast was not translated fully to English.

That doesn't quite work with how my mod is written I'm afraid.  IR compatibility is not high on my agenda (I advice against mixing it and mine for a reason!), but since this is a fairly simple tweak I'll see what I can do for those who insist on mixing them up regardless. ^^

I'm willing to wait on that, if the possibility is on the table. I've heard a good things, about your Item pack, but since Bartimaeus put a *lot* of effort to update item descriptions to EE-style in IRR, it's on my install list from now on. I dont't mind items overlapping that much, but bugs that are the result of mods incompatibility would be no fun at all.

It's on my to do list, although a lot of stuff I floated years ago (before a scratched hard disk platter) like the Lance of Disruption and Static Charge spells made it into SCS IWD spells component anyway (and I bothered to recolor the Static Charge and make spell icon bams for them, ack!).

Is there a specific component you were interested in, like a creature component? A class or kit change?

Yeah, a couple of components, actually. I like what I read about creature update components, but I'd need to be careful not to mess with SCS. From NPC and Rule Changes, I would PROBABLY choose similar components from other tweak mods, but I'd need to deep dive into details to be sure which one I like the most. From Items and Icons I would probably install both components, better icons are no-brainer and PNP Disruption Weapons looks interesting, because I always felt that although cull the vanilla versions are indeed overpowered.

So, to summarize, I'm interested in:

    - all components from Items and Icons section

    - some (maybe even all) components from Improved Creatures section

    - maybe something from NPC and Rule changes, but here I'm leaning more towards other mods solutions (like NPC_EE, which basically allows me to shape NPCS however I like nowadays).
