Opinions and ideas for v2

It is mentioned that the ogre has a belt fetish, which would explain the cursed belt. Personally, I am fond of the quest, even though trading the belt for the reward isn't a great idea considering how few belts the developers ended up putting in the game.

By the way, the dwarf that gives the quest is named Unshey, and he's a she (hard to tell from that beard, though).

Unshey? Haha, I always read her name as "Usher" (like in "The fall of the house of Usher") and recently I only noticed the n, not the y.

BTW, I wouldn't make Unshey want the cursed belt, as it isn't a worthy item and, if she wore it, there's no way the ogre could have taken it as he would've needed a remove curse spell.

@Mike: does IR touch the cursed girdle, or is it another mod?

Sorry for the OT.

Sorry for the OT.

IR does not move any BG1 items at this time, and the items it does move in BG2 are relatively few (mostly relating to the bonus merchants).

More OTness: The driving force behind IR's main component was SoA & ToB, with modifications to items in the BG1 half of BGT being half an add-on and half a side effect of modifying the BG2 versions. I've said this before, but I hope in the future (once Demi's played BG1) that IR will approach BG1 & TotSC the same way it does SoA & ToB.

Rather than changing the quest so that Unshey wants the cursed girdle, how about swapping the girdle of piercing for a non-magical "family heirloom" girdle and changing the quest to match?

Change Unshey's dialog to make her explain the belt has great sentimental value and it's good for me.

@Mike: thanks for the answer, it has to be another mod then. :)

a couple of minor typos:

1. randomiser/baf/special/flrgc.baf

IF

Exists("hlketta2")

Global("fl3t011","GLOBAL",12)

THEN RESPONSE #100

GiveItemCreate("hlketta2","brac06",0,0,0)

SetGlobal("fl3t011","GLOBAL",-1)

DestroySelf()

END

IF

Exists("hlsion")

Global("fl3t012","GLOBAL",12)

THEN RESPONSE #100

GiveItemCreate("hlsion","brac15",0,0,0)

SetGlobal("fl3t012","GLOBAL",-1)

DestroySelf()

END

IF

Exists("hlsion")

Global("fl3t013","GLOBAL",12)

THEN RESPONSE #100

GiveItemCreate("hlsion","scrl16",1,0,0)

SetGlobal("fl3t013","GLOBAL",-1)

DestroySelf()

END

[code]

the GiveItemCreate in all three blocks has the parameters swapped. i think it should be GiveItemCreate(item_name, script_name, X,Y,Z)

also, the script name for hlketta2.cre is simply 'hlketta'. Don't know if the game engine accepts creature filename as parameter, but it makes NI unnecessarily complain. Could be avoided by using its DV.

Stupid copy&paste scripts.

It doesn't accept filenames. I incorrectly assumed that hlketta2 had a script name matching the file name. Additionally, hlketta2 is the wrong creature. This has been fixed.

Thanks for the report.

Fortunately, the scripts in randomiser/baf/special will be obsolete come v2.

Hi!

Can you tell me wether there's full compatability with Item Randomizer and SCSII v10beta. I ask this of you since SCSII v10beta contains a component which randomizes a lot of items (I don't know which as the readme hasn't been updated). And yesterday I tried to install Item Randomizer on top of SCSII v10beta but alas the weiduinstaller just stopped midways and I had to "forceclose" it.

I tried to install the mode 2 with no losses of items (ie the Weidu version).

It's not that the mods are incompatible. In this case, the problem is that all tier 5 items have already been moved and Item Randomiser stalls when it tries to randomise the empty tier. This a more of a serious bug in Randomiser than a compatibility issue.

Item Revisions apparently only moves Defender of Easthaven (correct me if I'm wrong).

SCSII can optionally (re)move Robe of Vecna, Vhailor's Helm, Cloak of Mirroring and Shield of Balduran.

SCSII's randomiser component randomises the Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise.

Once all those 6 items have been (re)moved, tier 5 is empty and Item Randomiser will stall.

The really bad news is that before this happened, Randomiser had already made a fair number of changes and by forceclosing the installer, these changes were not unmade (specifically, Randomiser had already removed all the items it was going to randomise from their regular locations). It is not your fault (it's mine entirely) but it does mean you have a problem on your hands.

You may be able to salvage the situation by moving the files located in randomiser/backup/1300 to your override folder (uninstall.1300, mappings.1300 and args.1300 are files used by weidu and you needn't move those).

I'm terribly sorry about this.

IR (re)moves much more than just efender of Easthaven. You can find a comlete list of (re)moved items here.
Ah, yes. I meant of the items composing Item Randomiser's tier 5. Thanks for the link. I keep forgetting how extensively Item Revisions is documented.
