Kaliesto Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) I noticed he is a important piece to the EET Machine for a long long time now, but due to his long absence that it is high time you all try to find someone that can stand in for him that is also familiar with the kind of coding involved. Hope I'm not being rude to suggest this, but with the way things are going that you all might need some alternative help until he can come back when he is ready. Too much time lost at this rate. There is also the matter of the new official patch coming around the corner for Baldur's Gate, and that is going to cause a few hiccups. Edited March 26, 2018 by Kaliesto Quote

Do you have any insider information about what the EE patch may affect in EET? And if so, what it may mean to all the EE/EET compatible mods? So far nobody provided evidence that the patch would require changes to mods, Otherwise, as you see in this post http://gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=29295&hl=, I agree to your requirement. Alternatively we may need to have a EET_fixes mod for such things... Quote
Ulb Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) Kathos has been absent for long periods of time before and EET is currently stable and perfectly playable so I don't see a reason to believe that he is gone for good. I think he has said he intends to wait for the next patch before releasing IWD-in-EET so that would indicate that we can expect him to return once the patch hits live. Even if he is gone for good, as Roxxanne has said, whether the patch actually requires any work on EET or not seems to be up in the air at this point. Matter of fact, Kathos seemd to have quite a good grasp of what is coming with the next patch (see IWD-in-EET discussion) and didn't mention EET needing any major updates for that. So, there is a good chance EET will remain perfectly viable for the forseeable future even if Kathos doesn't return. Edited March 26, 2018 by Ulb Quote

For a mod of this magnitude, it is quite impressive that we have a stable, bug free and enjoyable version since more than half a year. So far the stuff I found that could be improved all are inherited from the original games. EET just makes them more apparent., Quote
AWizardDidIt Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Don't worry about it. K4thos hasn't been around because frankly there's very little to do until 2.5 hits. I'm sure he'll be back then and if not, eh can worry about that then. I still see him time to time on other forums I frequent so he's not disappeared off the face of the planet trust me. Quote

Fouinto Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 I wish he could spare some time and insight to help people trying to get EET to work on tablets... Do you use this https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/43990/how-to-install-mods-on-android ? I've not tried to install EET (I only own BG2EE on my tablet), but I have installed several mods. Quote
subtledoctor Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 (edited) I don't think EET really needs that much work to make it possible to play on tablets. 1) There probably has to be an option not to biff anything. 2) It would be useful to have some kind of log of the .PVRZ files added/created that need later conversion to a different format. Could simply maje a list in a .2da file. 3) It seems like k4thos chose a UI skin for the main screen and menus that cannot work at the screen resolutions used in tablets. The UI would need to support tablet resolutions. EDIT: 4) The 2.5 patch available for BGEE, SoD, and BG2EE. So obviously this is dependent on Beamdog, and no urgency for k4thos. Hack'n'Slash Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 k4thos did mention a long time back that he'd wait until the 2.5 patch comes out. Considering the patch is still Beta and not available on some platforms I'd patiently wait for Beamdog to finally release the update to all games. Quote
Kaliesto Posted April 2, 2018 Author Posted April 2, 2018 So basically this boils down to a lack of marked communications, I think for the average guy like myself we wouldn't know what exactly happened. Well hopefully things will work out regardless. Quote
Roxanne Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 So basically this boils down to a lack of marked communications, I think for the average guy like myself we wouldn't know what exactly happened. Well hopefully things will work out regardless. EET is totally stable in its current version. There is no urgent need for anything to be done on that mod itself. Things just become more complex with the list of EET compatible mods getting constantly longer and not all dependencies/conflicts/other issues are known already. But those are things to be figured out and corrected by the users and modders, not necessarily by the EET creator. And actually that is what happens on this forum every day. Quote
subtledoctor Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 * except that it doesn't work on every platform Quote
Jarno Mikkola Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 (edited) * except that it doesn't work on every platform Well, which program does ? I am pretty sure I can find a room filled with computer that doesn't run any program you know. Cause it's from 1960-80's, and A one "computer". So if you want a program to work, just get a format that runs it. Be it any computerized format, console, wrist clock, phone, eye implant, or a regular desktop computer. Now then if you want to convert program to another format, then you need to learn to make a program conversions. And not make a threads hoping someone else makes it for you. You can make a thread that would discuss about a possibility of such, but not one that implies it's there already in the topic title. Edited April 2, 2018 by Jarno Mikkola Quote
subtledoctor Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 What are you even talking about? "Program conversions?" I'm talking about a Weidu mod. After installing, the result works on Windows, Macos, and Linux. The problem is that it creates /data and /override folders that cannot be used iOS/Android versions. At thus point we understand fairly well what needs to be done to make things work on tablets... we only need a bit of dialogue to know better how EET does what it does, in order that we can make a tool or adjustments so that the result will play on Windows and Macos and Linux AND iOS AND Android. But I think we need k4thos for that. Quote
