SimDing0
~Me Madulf...lead fellows from great army of Sythsill in the south. No want to kill races no more. Lead fellows in desertion. We just wants be left alone.~ Is this a missing token, or is he specifying all races? Link to comment
devSin
It always looked to me like a hack substitution for "humans." It sucks to have multiple races when there's no real way to refer to them as a whole. No want kill sentient beings no more. Link to comment
Caedwyr
"peoples" would also work as a substitution for "races" Link to comment
icelus
"Peoples" could work, I think. Or maybe "others." Link to comment
Caedwyr
Question is: do any of these work better than "races"? Is this really a change that needs to be made? Link to comment
Hendryk
"Two-legs" might convey the meaning and keep within Madulf's primitive Common vocabulary. Link to comment
Rastor
"Two-legs" might convey the meaning and keep within Madulf's primitive Common vocabulary. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He says that he doesn't mind killing orcs to protect the village. Orcs have two legs. Therefore... . Link to comment
SimDing0
Why is this no action? Link to comment
Kish
I suspect, considering the incoherence of "no want to kill races no more," this was meant to be, "no want to kill <RACE>s no more." Which still comes out stupid, particularly if CHARNAME is a half-elf or half-orc, but not quite as stupid. Link to comment
SimDing0
Right. In this situation, I suggest simply using "humans"--they're in predominantly human territory, and next to a human village which they're seeking to emphasise they don't want to attack. Link to comment
