  1. @Bartimaeus PI does not provide an install order and never will. The entire mindset behind it is that the tool maintainer shouldn't be responsible for constantly pandering to mods with tracking their status and updates and be responsible to provide the correct mod ordering so it offloads all this to be done by the user themselves with allowing the user to manually order the mods the way they see appropriate (which either works, either not). Roxanne's BWS fork provides one horrible installation order, which only works with a selected subset of combinations because her lack of care outside her specific gamestyle.

@Hubal If you need help for PI, there was that Discord link in the first post of PI's topic where there are people who would help you getting PI and your install order set up. I don't know how you built that installation, and that might have worked for SRR, but EBG1/Transitions are way too late and should come before all the questmods, while Dragonspear++ should come before SCS because this way you lost the ability to finetune SCS difficulty in the options menu (and all of Hidden Game options... also you shouldn't install both LeUI and Dragonspear++).

  2. I don't have the mobile versions to check, but the files exists on all four PC variants. The flavour lines even differ between BG1/BG2/IWD (shared filename, different content), which actually causes a bug in EET because it copies over and manges to override the BG2 flavour lines with the BG1 variants of these voices but keep the BG2 subtitling. All communications implied they'll throw this in freely to all owners so I'm not too worried about mobiles either.

If so, or maybe so, then we need a way to distinguish the 2.6 engine from the 2.5 engine, in order to selectively apply these flags only on the former...

Thankfully we have a bunch of markers for this one, just one example:

    IF FILE_EXISTS_IN_GAME ~bdtpag00.WAV~

(Some of the lines in the AoN voicepack couldn't fit into the BG2 singlechar-suffix system, and these additional lines got biffed into a separate package included among all the other ingame files. Every voiceset has 17 of such lines, counted from  00 to 16.)

I should add that if any fan of SR and the IWD spells wants to do me a set of SR+IWD spell choices, I'd be happy to use them. I'm not sufficiently invested in SR to do it myself. The relevant files are in stratagems/[mage|priest]/spellchoices/[iwd|demivrgvs], in a hopefully-self-explanatory format - it's basically a matter of looking at the SR allocations and the IWD allocations and combining them.

(In principle you could also do it for the defensive spell choices in stratagems/[mage|priest]/spellchoices_defensive/[iwd|demivrgvs], although those are quite a lot more complex.)

I have a question for this one, actually.

Would it be possible to have a setting where these files are partially externalized out to somewhere to allow other mods expanding them? Similarly like how BP-BGT Worldmap uses the Worldmap folder to expand the default map with whatever data content mods throw there. This would allow other mod(der)s adding spells to the game allowing SCS to also pick it up and utilize (some of) these spells. Since these would be externalized, you could also offload the responsibility of compatibility maintenance to the projects utilizing them.

  5. One question, why does YARAS change Darkmail's armor class, now that you bring it up? :D

Also, another report. I am using the SoB weapon styles but the dual-wielding AC bonus for smaller weapons throws the game off. When I equip a longsword to my offhand, I momentarily gain the AC bonus of wielding a dagger and it does correct itself after a round or so, but that correction also means every armor piece which would affect my AC are marked as better than what I currently wield (portrait going yellow). This can include a duplicate of the same ordinary helmet I currently wear.

  6. For the record, I accidentally have tested the IWD import after ToTLM with IWDification RC1 two weeks ago and that errored out the components, so even the update to 34.1 might not ensure the install to be error-prone with that install order.

And the log attached had ToTLM installed.

    A7-TOTLM-BG2EE/A7-TOTLM-BG2EE.TP2 0 0 Installed
    A7-TOTLM-BG2EE/A7-TOTLM-BG2EE.TP2 0 20 Installed
    A7-TOTLM-BG2EE/A7-TOTLM-BG2EE.TP2 0 30 Installed

Hello, I was trying to install this as part of my EE Mod Setup and hitting this issue:

My best guess would be a mod conflict here caused by a bad installation order.

The tool's maintainer forces a bad installation order on you with the Trials of the Luremaster mod getting installed before SCS's spell components. The ToTLM mod expects to come after SCS's (or IWDification's) IWD spell import but if it can't find those, it'll perform it's own cruder and limited-in-scope conversion which will error out when it's SCS's turn to convert the spells over.

Try it without the Trials of Luremaster conversion. Or better, abandon that trash being EE Mod Setup.

  8. Beware with DragonspearUI++ because it might not enable the Beamdog NPCs. I've read two reports about it on Reddit in the last ~10 days but I haven't got there to confirm and tunnel the issue to meowdog and neither person came back to actually confirming if they had the issue with Pecca's version or his one despite I asked them to reporting it there.

Uh, honestly I don't remember, but you're the second person asking me about it. I would need to re-read the entire thread of mine to remind myself about my reasoning. But there is probably a reason I've done that.

BWS suggested to install UI mods late. It was already wrong there but that could be the source.

  10. Let me just drop the pretense for a bit. @UMNiK, do I read it right that

    • you don't understand the depth of what you're talking about
    • you don't want to put much effort into this to experience the pitfalls
    • you still think you know it better than actual people who have explained the pitfalls from actual experience
    • and you want to ignore every answer as long as it doesn't suit you

Let that sink for a moment.

Despite the above, I'll still answer your questions, even if it'll fall on deaf ears again.

    1. EETMIT is 50%-70% correct. The order is wrong, broken mods are marked as "recommended" while actually reliable mods are marked as "expert" or outright omitted. You need to put effort into untangling that mess and figure out which mods worth your time despite not featured/recommended in it's list.
    2. I don't know the BWS list, but it's last update predates early tweak mods like EndlessBG1/Transitions and it installs the UI too late besides probably having the same issues I've listed in point 1 (because I know from the EETMS commit history that the order was only changed when someone actually pointed it out on BSW, but most of the people on BSW don't understand that this could cause issues, so it still has a lot of legacy baggage).
    3. See point 2.
    4. I don't see the need of a translation required for that list, it's pretty obvious and Google Translate can manage the portions which isn't.
    5. You seem to ignore/overlook that there is no standard megamod installation. There is a counterpart for every mod and there isn't guaranteed that every mod will be featured. Not even the juggernaut mods like BG1NPC and SCS are straightforward to be featured in every installation of their respective games and there are practical incompatibilities which a global perfect installation order cannot resolve (Imoen Friendship vs Imoen Romance, Reunion vs Turnabout, Turnabout vs Lava's Khalid, Imoen4Ever vs a lot of older mods/Imoen is Stone/Imoen Can Die, Neera Expansion/Banters vs A7-ConvenientEENPCs, LefreutUI vs DragonspearUI++ vs EET-GUI, the Yoshimo mods and I could go on). Even mods like A7-TotLM-BG2EE are prepared to convert the IWD spells on it's own because it can't know if SCS/IWDification's respective components are part of the current install. There's no general answer beyond what you received already because we can't tell what would the individual's preference be so we just fall back to generic suggestions and while we try to cover the compatibility in the readmes, we need to reserve the right that we miss out on some technical or practical conflicts due to being unaware of the other mod conflicting with ours. You really can't expect modders to test their mods against all the thousands of other mods and the millions of combinations generated from it (even without reordering involved) because that would ensure no mod would ever get released.
    6. GitHub works fine. Subtledoctor even provides a list for one to start from but I had no time to provide updates to it myself either.

I think many people who come late to IE modding are in for a culture shock of sorts. Almost all other modding communities built around games released in the last 5-10 years revolve around the Nexus, so people are used to having a central repository (and discussion platform) that hosts all relevant mod content in one place.

I agree with the message, but only with this disclaimer. Even before Nexus gained prominence, ModDB was and still is a thing and there were games which where centralized around Fileplanet (I still feel Starfleet Command and Bridge Commander never were able to regain traction from that closure). I do acknowledge ModDB clearly lost the fight against Nexus and Steam Workshop, with most of the mods/games featured there being retro games. Still, I would say that the culture shock comes from a generation gap outright.

For the record, I only modded two games which centers around Nexus out of many and one of those got it's own external PI/EETMS-alike tool which doesn't rely on Nexus for downloads even. And I have modded more games which didn't, so my culture shock is that everyone talks about this site I never heard about nor do I find relevant. Sure, I've joined the IE modding scene this year but I am modding various games since 2004, so the way the IE scene works feels straightforward to me.

Another option to discover mods is to download the huge WeiDU logs from troubleshooting topics, then google for the mods you don't know about (this is how I discovered TnT myself).

One thing I noticed with RC1 is that IWD scrolls do not switch artwork to the coiled generic scroll when they are moved between slots/characters.

Ignore this guy, he's an idiot who can't read that @argent77's ToTLM conversion should come after IWDification, breaking both magic components thenafter. It looks fine when I fixed my installation order. (can I request a PI dynamic install order rule in one of these mods for dumbasses like me?)

  13. Scales of Balance should come before SCS.

NPCs should come after quest mods. Literally half the NPCs come before BG1NPC.

Tweaks Anthology is WAY WAY TOO EARLY. Tweakmods should come after content mods.

If you don't install the IWD spells prior to A7-ToTLM, it'll do it's own IWD spell import, which comes after your 5E spellcasting conversion even, so they are standard 2E spells in your game.

I wouldn't even install TDDz at this point, there are just way too many bugs that can cause in an install.

And this is where I stop because I could go on for eternity. Please read the mod readmes before you think you can just throw this together on your own.

If others want to debug the Taerom issue, then run

    weidu --change-log taerom.dlg > taerom.log

and upload the logfile to them, but this install order doesn't worth the time IMO.

  14. You changed the engine_name variable in engine.lua at one point after EET but before EET_End got installed and now the user profile folders are in a mess (not necessarily in the current installation, even). Only customize that after you have finished EET installations.

You can fix the warning with looking up whichever save folder your standard installation uses now and change 'Program Options','EET Installation State' to 2 in it's baldur.lua but I wouldn't be surprised if there are more issues.
