Alright, you've got something going on with your game scripts. Maybe you reinstalled something without backing out all your other mods first?

I did indeed do that.

When Harold wasn't there the first time, I uninstalled Alternatives. (It was in the middle of the pack)

Then I thought I'll try reinstalling, & just put it in last. I take it you can't do that.

Anyway, Spawning Zahl didn't help ("Zahl has nothing to say to you")

So I'm doing yet another clean install.

I've been playing this game for months & only got through it once.

Thanks again for your help. :)

Yeah, when you want to reinstall a mod, your best bet is to print out your WeiDU log, located in your game directory and openable with Notepad, and then locate the mod you want to reinstall on the list. Then, you look at the end of the list and meticulously uninstall each mod from the end of the list upward until you reach the mod you want to reinstall. After that, you should uninstall the mod you want to update, delete the mod folder, extract the archive of the new version, and install that. Then, you can use your printed WeiDU log to reinstall each mod in your list in the exact same order they were in before. If you do this, you can usually use your old saved games. Since you already have reinstallation issues, though, I wouldn't recommend it.

Paladin route, v9: after reaching Spellhold there're still some leftovers in the journal, namely the ''collect the money for Gaelan Bayle'' that doesn't get erased upon accepting Aster offer, and a ''Perform Bodhi's tasks to receive her aid'' that pops up when I kill Aran Linvall even if I work for somebody else.

Don't be too fussed about journal entries--often times when the engine gets a queue of EraseJournalEntry() commands it inevitably drops some of them. I went hunting for a lot of leftover entries for Fixpack, and inevitably they had erase commands--they were simply sticking around anyway.

I just got the cutscene with Brega in the government district and then met Alten in the bridge district. Which is great and everything, outside of it being chapter 6.

Hmm, yes, that would be a bit confusing. I thought I put the appropriate checks on there, but I probably missed the big one, Global("Chapter","GLOBAL",2). It would be typical.

Version 10 is uploaded. It fixes the two bugs here (cutscene starting when it isn't supposed to and the arrows) and adds a Russian translation by Austin, Ardanis, Aldark and Acranecoast.ru.

I'll see what I can do about getting a bona fide announcement posted.

***PLEASE NO SPOILERS UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSSARY***

Love the mod. Ran into a conflict with the Beyond the Law mod. I have decided to help the Order and have destroyed the Shadow Theives with Bodhi's crew up next. Then I finally found Kova in the Windspear Hills. I need a Shadow Thief informant, but there aren't any left and now I am getting bushwacked at every turn by Cowled Enforcers, Amnish Legionaires, etc.. good XP and lots of extra consumables being p/u. But it is getting extremely hard to move around w/out getting attacked and Kova is the weakest NPC in the party and they seem to be targeting him, he goes down quick!

How do I fix this? Can I CluaConsole a shadow theif in to tell me what I need to know to continue the BTL quest or am I beyond a point of no return? I don't know which Shadow Thief I need to contact as I don't want to read a the BTL forum for spoilers, but I will if I must.

Hmm, I've never played BTL, so I have absolutely no idea how you would go about consoling in a shadow thief to complete his quest. I am sure you will be able to console in somebody, but your best bet is to ask Zyraen. He knows how his mod is coded, he knows his creature codes and quest globals. I don't.

By the way, spawns can fail for a number of reasons, e.g. too close to the edge of a map, too far away from the spawn point, creature spawns on the other side of a door, too close to an impassable area, moving away from the spawn point when the creature spawns (the creature moves at the same pace you do, so it may never be able to catch up), something else in the area script executes first, so there is no guarantee Alternatives is involved at all. Believe it or not, the scripting introduced by Alternatives is minimal, so I would be more inclined to blame a mundane reason for missing the shadow thief informant.

I wasn't blaming Alternatives, sorry if that was implied in my orignal post. I was wondering if this came up when creating/playtesting it against other mods, if you do so? I haven't seen this situation addressed anywhere else in my internet search for help, so I thought it would be safer to ask here first, as I didn't want to get a spoiler response on the BTL forum. But, if I must I will post there as well. It's just that both mods involve the Shadow Thieves in one way or another. Alternatives allows me to destroy them when working for the Order, looks like BTL is leading me to use them. Seems ot be a timing conflict. I think I will have to go back to an early save and find Kova immediately before addressing the Order's request. That is the problem when using multiple mods for the first time I guess...

Thanks for the great mod Berelinde, it will hve some replayability with the different options offered.

No, I did not think you were laying the blame on Alternatives. I do understand that it can be frustrating, looking for a solution to a problem and not knowing where to start.

Actually, I did run into some trouble testing this mod alongside Quest Pack in the sense that I was testing on an installation that included it. When I moved to one that did not, I had to redo the scripts I did not realize that some of the creature and AI script assignments were QP, not vanilla. To avoid running into similar problems in the future, I built the thing so it was completely stand-alone.

BTL is, too, but BTL is a complex mod. It affects a lot of dialogues and scripts that you might not think it would effect, like Gaelan Bayle's.

But what you are saying makes sense. If you need to make contact with a Shadow Thief at some point, it would make sense that doing so would be difficult if you have... er... rearranged its leadership during Alternatives' quests. No spoilers in what I just said. You already know how that part of Alternatives plays out, and I can't tell you what I don't know about BTL. I only know about the issues with Gaelan's dialogue because I once tried to help a modder friend of mine resolve an unrelated conflict with her own NPC mod.

I have a problem with Gaelan Bayle. I'm supposed to do the second task for Aran Linvail - and to do so, I need to talk to Gaelan about one of his missing fences. However, when I talk to Gaelan, he doesn't seem to remember that I already paid him the money and he keeps asking if I work for Sir Aster. Any ideas how to fix it, possibly with the CLUA console (as I'm not a geek and have no idea how to use NearInfinity etc.:/)

Thanks for help!

Hi berelinde

I got a few issues. I went to Aster, paid the 15.000 and headed for the Thiefs HQ. I espected Renal Bloodscalp to be there, but in the room where he was supposed to be, there were none. I suspect him to hold the key, that would let me in to Aran lair. Anyway I went back to Aster, who started the recruting dialogue again...
