Cahir's EET Epic Run Mod Order help request

Hello Gals and Guys

The time has come for me to make a final epic BG Saga Run. I've chosen an EET as a gaming platform and Project Infinity as an install tool and selected quite a substantial pack of mods for  my instal (no megamods, though). Since I've been playing BG ages ago, I would ask you for help creating a correct sort order to upload for Project Infinity. Below is a list of mods (not ordered at all) I'm planning to use. If you think some mods are not compatible with other, please also let me know I'll exclude them from the list.

  • For BG1/SoD mods that aren't necessarily EET compatible, you can load (some?  most of?) them into your BG1/SoD game prior to installing EET.
  • Improved Archer swaps out the HLA file for archers so anything that touches all HLA files will need to be installed after that.

I keep seeing you asking similar questions to mine, and finally stumbled upon this today.

I'm working on something similar, though only for BG2EE. Happy to combine knowledge.

Some quick tips:

  • Hidden Adventures - After item upgrade and npctweak

  • Viconia Revamped - Install after Faiths & Powers of Deities of Fareun for kits, or just use SCS component 4100 / NPCEE
  • Totemic Cernd - See NPC Tweaks for this and others, or just use SCS component 4100 /NPCEE
  • Banter Accelerator for Enhanced Editions - Banter accelerator is included in IEP Extended Banters

6. Items & Spells

  • IWDFication - be careful with this and SCS/SR

7. Gameplay Tweaks & AI mods

  • Ding0's Tweak Pack - This seems to cause me problems and very few compnents are not available elsewhere.
  • Refinments - Refinements HLAs are not used by SCS, so installing both may make many high level enemy mages much weaker.

10. UI Mods & Options Menu changes

  • Reveal Hidden Gameplay Tweaks - This can be done with EEUI Tweaks.

@4udr4n thanks for the input, really appreciate. I'll update the list for selected components soon. Meanwhile, regarding your reply:

Hidden Adventures -> not planning to install item or NPC related components (only plot related staff and Temple of Mask). As I understand it should be installed after IR, because IR reshuffles items, right?

Viconia Revamped -> noted, actually I do plan to use Cleric of Shar kit from F&P for her.

Totemic Cernd -> I'll stick with this mod, it also increase Cernd's stats (which is OK for me)

Banter Accelerator for EE -> didn't think about that, thanks. I'll cross it out from the list.

IWDFication -> Care to elaborate? Are there any compatibility issues between IWDFication and SCS or SR? I know there is IWDFication variant in SCS, but as I understood from SCS readme it's slightly different from regular IWDFication mod, but otherwise it's the same. Having a great number of spells to choose from is deliberate. I'm not an expert SCS player, so I want to have a large arsenal of spells for battles. As I understand SCS AI will take only SR spells into consideration, but not spells from Olvyn Spells and Made in Heaven Spellpack mods. So this will be my leverage during tough fights.

Ding0's Tweak Pack -> actually I came to the same conclusion and will cross this mod out from my list.

Refinements -> that's actually good. I will have better chance to survive in SCS environment.

Reveal Hidden Gameplay Tweaks -> Correct me if I'm wrong, but EEUI Tweaks have fewer options to choose from, right? In RHGT readme there is a following passage:

The mod can not be installed together with EEUITweaks component "Hidden Game Options". You can install either one, but not both at the same time.

But I think this mod has more options that Hidden Game Options tweak from EEUITweaks.

Also, I decided to cross out Artaport (doesn't feel I'm going to like the end result) and Recolored Toolbar Buttons (not sure if it's needed with LeUI). I have added eSeries nod for additional party scripts.

These all work fine together. There are SCS components that do the same thing as the two IWDification spell components, and of course you wouldn’t install two mods that do the same thing. But otherwise they are fine together. 

EDIT - but these three mods stay out of each others’ way, they won’t install duplicate spells. I’m not sure the same can be said of the Made In Heaven spells. I don’t know how it is coded.

I’ve noticed the odd bug with the SCS version - I think Storm Shell might not work? And both have a very slight overlap with SR, in that you’ll have both “Storm Shell” and “Storm Shield” when the mods should probably just agree on one or the other. 

I like the handful of improvements that SCS makes to priest spells, however, making some of them interact with spell battles - e.g. Impervious Sanctity of Mind acting as a Spell Shield. 

Also, if you use SR’s “Deflection Blocks AoE Spells” component, IWDification doesn’t work with that. You’ll need to use SCS, or my fork of IWDification. (FnP and TnB work fine with that SR component.)

EDIT - you might also like my new spell tweaks mod which is sort of similar to SR in philosophy and aim, though on a much smaller scale.

Doc, unless I'm missing something IWDfication (the stationary version) have more components than SCS version? I'm talking about following components

- Icewind Dale Casting Graphics

- Commoners Use Drab Colors (I think Tweaks Anthology has identical tweak)

- IWD Bard Song

- Two Handed Axe Item Pack

Also, I crossed out Made in Heaven - Quest and Encounters. Angel is still working on it and it shares too much of a common ground with SCS, I don't want to risk to difficult or buggy encounters.

The first 2 are in Tweaks Anthology anyway and I prefer Might and Guile's Bards. Maybe worth the 2-handed axes, I've not tried that.

Randomiser? Don;t know, all I could find was that it had potential problems with the 2 I mentioned.

No, I meant Item Revisions, specifically Store Revisions Component. From the Readme:

Re-allocation of lootable items
Some items, potions and scrolls are moved between crates, enemies and stores. Some powerful items have been sensibly removed from stores and are now effectively used by enemies, others have been moved to more appropriate locations based on their background. A number of ToB items are made available during the late stage of SoA.

Hidden Adventures have components that change locations of a couple of items. Probably that's why it's advisable to install those components after IR's Store Revisions.

@subtledoctor What will happen if I install "Bard Song" component from IWDification along with "Bard Overhaul" from M&G? Will I have additional IWD songs available for use for bard characters or something will be screwed?

More changes:

- Removed Every Mod and Dog from the list - too goofy, this would be a serious run :p

No problem.

For what it's worth, I am considering just downloading the lot, loading up PI, getting it to read every component, dropping them into the sheet in this order and starting a by-component compatibility list as the current method is a little awkward.

This would also allow us to tag incompatibilities or overlaps by component better.

Bit more work required though!

Also, I am not technically gifted, and suspect there may be faster ways to achieve this. Open to ideas, happy to do the donkey work.

@4udr4n, I looked over the spreadsheet specifically for 'Advanced Archer' since this is the one I know about.  It swaps out the HLA file for Archer and should be installed early since some mods will touch multiple HLA files (like Will To Power which isn't on your list but others may do something similar).  If Archer is installed after one of those, it'll hose the changes.  Just a heads up.

Also wanted to thank you for your hard work on this.  I have a list (MUCH MUCH SMALLER) that I use after researching and I know it's not a simple task.  Kudos!  Really, big kudos! 👍

No worries, hopefully it is useful, and if we all contribute it may help others.

I can't find advanced archer, feel free to annotate, and if a mod is missing from the list, add a new row where you think it should go (guesses are fine) and fill it in!
