This seems weird, I feel like this used to work. Maybe the file got changed at some point?

This is indeed weird. But according to git log, there is only the initial commit for the file. Anyway, thanks for the fix (btw, what exactly was the fix?).

By the way, the workfow for submitting PR's is simple: fork the repo. Git clone the fork into a local copy. Git branch to make a new branch. Checkout to new branch. Hack away. Git push the branch to your fork. Submit PR.

I just added the relevant spells to the known/memorized lists in the .CRE file manually in NI, then uploaded the altered .CRE file. Note, I did not look at any script that SR might use. At the most basic level, this is a green-circle summon and the player will now be able to use all the mentioned spells through the summon.

I also don’t know whether SCS will evaluate dryads’ known/memorized spells like it would a cleric, or instead assumes a particular variant and just scripts a bunch of ForceSpell actions. (SCS enemy druids might of course use this spell against the player.) But that is anyway beyond the scope of what we can do here.

Hello. I want to run BG 1 and 2 with SRv4-18 and SCS 34.3 installed. And as I understand, there are two main problems now.
1) Obscuring Mist and Animal Summoning I spell's green borders (using Obscuring Mist causes a crash).

2)

Wizard spell Protection from Elemental Energy doesnt do anything. Its extended effects and resource is pointing to SPWI422 whereas I suspect it should be pointing to DVWI426. I made the change using DLTCEP and it caused it to work correctly.

The bug also affects Animal Growth.

I tried to fix it myself with DLTCEP and NearInfinity but I'm doing something wrong.
If someone could explain to me what needs to be done (or upload updated files), I would be very grateful.

Or should we just wait for v4-19?

Thanks.

@Sullen Dwarf1) and 2) are fixed in Master. I do not know what the quoted last line about Animal Growth refers to. If you are feeling adventurous, hop to the GitHub page , click the green button labelled "Code" and download the latest release. Unzip the zip and copy the spell_rev folder to your bg install. Installation is now as a normal weidu mod, e.g. something like "weinstall spell_rev". Holler if something is not working.

Thanks a lot. I completely forgot that the actual versions are usually in "master".

Usually it's a bad idea to grab the "master" not-yet-released version of a mod. But in this particular case, the current master commit of SR is in very good shape and is extremely close to what will become 4b19 (or perhaps the official v4.0!). I am using the latest master commit in my own current game.

I am trying to add your fixes to correct the obscuring mist issue and get up to date.  I copied the spell_rev file from the master zip file and put it into my directory.  I went to reinstall but now Spell Revisions is asking me to install it as if it isn't already there.  I checked my WeiDU log and it shows Spell Revisions installed and the changes are in game.  Where did I go wrong?  I just did this process for Item Revisions without this happening but maybe I messed something up while doing that.  I could live without that spell working but worried about creating other problems.  Thanks!

Doing that in the middle of a game is a Generally Bad Idea. If the versions of the .tp2 file are different, then Weidu might treat them as different mods. So nothing to "reinstall." Also, none of the backup files will be there. Just swapping out a mod folder for a mod in the middle of the stack and running the installer is a very easy way to completely destroy your install. Don't bork your game to update one spell! Especially a 1st-level spell. Especially for something so minor as removing a miscolored icon border. (FWIW, contrary to the post above, I just installed SRv4b18 onto BG2EE v2.6 and Obscuring Mist does not cause a crash for me.)

Options:

  1. Finish the game, don't use the spell, and install updated mods on a clean game for your next playthrough
  2. Install the updated mod to a different game, open Near Infinity for both games, and manually update the effects of that spell to match the newer version
  3. Abandon this playthrough, reinstall mods on a clean game, and start over

I always recommend #1 unless there is something truly game-breaking. Playing with a lot of mods, there will always be a few bugs here and there. I keep updating the games, the mods, reinstalling everything, but every year, every time, even after applying all sorts of fixes, there are still some bugs here and there. As long as you can play the game, just play the game. Make a newer better install for the next game. That's my practice anyway.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm at the very beginning of the game.  The only reason why I started messing with it is because the game was crashing every time I'd click healing services in a temple.  That was annoying enough to meddle.  Looking for that solution I found this thread and figured I'd update both.  So how do I apply the fixes on a clean install?

Download spell revisions, don't install, copy over the folder spell_rev from here https://github.com/Gibberlings3/SpellRevisions  and then install?

It's worth doing a clean install now.  Nalia just cast a flame arrow at a troll and then autofired a ton of them napalming the whole area and wiping my party.   Damn she really wants revenge.

Yup

EDIT - btw the crash when trying to buy cures from temples is related to the JTweaks mod's "Temple Cures Work Better" component. I don't think it is a problem with JTweaks on its own, but some other mod (possibly this one? Store Revisions?) causes JTweaks to neglect to install a spell that is needed for the temples.

I made a hotfix for it.

Hi, I have been searching for any mention of this issue and not found it.  I just installed this, along with other mods (weidu.log below) and during new character spell selection, the spell descriptions are all replaced with 'invalid' messages, e.g. 'Invalid: 71685'.  Also some of the spell names have the same kind of ~Invalid: number~ message.  I used Project Infinity as the installer, and it's on a clean install of bgee.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

I encountered a non-game breaking bug that Baresh will summon a friendly dark planetar who will then kill both Selaad and Baresh easily, and disappear after resting.

As I have a habit of backing up my installations after each major MOD installed, I managed to narrow down to this MOD. This bug will only start to happen if I install the main component of SR V4 Beta 18. The MODs installed before SR are:

I think my explanation is not clear enough, the reason I just posted the MOD installed before SR is because I experimented it on an earlier backup installation without anything else is installed later. I backed up my installations after each major MOD installed to help me to find out the cause of problem (if I encounter any).

This bug will not happen if I just install everything else posted above (UI, quests, NPCs MOD), but as long as I add SR, I can reproduce this problem.
