SR V4 Beta 18

It is bgee game, and I found some discussion on similar issue with an old mod that I did not use.

https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/12458/kaishas-gan-and-the-comet

In my full installation I have scs and also exp limit removal from tweak anthology, and it probably affected my save file in certain way, so probably SR is not the only cause.

I will do a test before the creature appears in a game installation without the other mods after SR later, and post my full installation weidu log.

I tested again in a similar way that I mentioned yesterday, except I loaded earlier save game before Baresh has been generated in the game. The finding is the same, won't have this problem unless SR is installed. Anyway, the weidulog for the full installation:

Okay now I see the issue, sounds pretty simple to address. I still haven’t been able to look at the files yet, but it’s probably as easy as removing the HLA spell file from your override folder.

When I get to my computer I’ll confirm and work on a proper fix for the mod.

SR does not touch creatures to add or delete memorized spells; it does not touch Baresh, much less give him spells. SCS certainly does give spells (depending on the settings you chose), so there could be some weird interaction going on -- what do you have in mind subtledoctor?

Link to comment

My recollection is, the Baresh ability in BG1 shares a RES with the Planetar HLA in BG2. And BGEE inherited the overlap without fixing it. If SR overwrites the Planetar spell as a matter of course, then in a pure BGEE install it could overwrite the werewolf ability. (The last time I played through BGEE, with SR 4b16, I skipped Werewolf Island so I didn’t see any interaction.)

Remember SR was designed for BG2, not BG1 - when SR was made BG1 was not really moddable in the same way. It worked on BGT and EET because they fix that kind of compatibility issue, but pure BGEE exposes a number of issues with SR - think about all the ‘Display String’ effects that had to be redone to accommodate BGEE. This might be a similar kind of issue.

Or this might have already been fixed somewhere, and the OP might be using an old version of SR or an old version of BGER. Easy enough to figure out by looking at the files, but I have been blessedly away from my computer for the last three days.

But like I say, worst case scenario you could probably just remove SPWI923 and SPWI924 from the override folder right after SR is installed. In BGEE there are no HLAs so this should not harm anything.

If everything is current and this is an issue with the mod, and my supposition about it is correct, then the solution is to simply preface the planetar spell overwrites with ACTION_IF !(GAME_IS ~bgee~) BEGIN

My recollection is, the Baresh ability in BG1 shares a RES with the Planetar HLA in BG2. And BGEE inherited the overlap without fixing it.

Wrong. Baresh and Kaishas uses OHWI924 and OHWI925 respectively in BGEE. Yes, SPWI924 and SPWI925 are also the polymorph spells, but everything uses ForceSpellRES to trigger the renamed variants directly via filename. Another mod must have reverted this change.

Edit: Mendas's dialogue is still wrong, it was updated everywhere else.

Edit2: Filed to Fixpack in https://github.com/Gibberlings3/EE_Fixpack/pull/26. EET fixes this silently for mod compat, the internal comments outright mention this shouldn't be an issue in the vanilla game.

Wrong!

Edit: ...

To be clear: without even having access to the files, I correctly got the gist of what the problem was, correctly guessed a working (not perfect, but working) method for the mod at issue to address the problem, and gave correct advice as to how the OP could fix his game. With access to the files I can now see that the problem is indeed in mendas4.dlg. But all of that advice is still good.

So, in fact right? Right.

Always a pleasure, man...

I'm using the SR V4 Beta 18. The bgee game is the latest steam version.

just reporting in case it is related to this mod, personally it is just a very minor bug in my game that does not hurt anything except some amusement, my party can kill both of them very easily at that time, and I don really mind if any dark planetar pops out and does the job for me😀

In Deva and Planetar animations:

Could anyone explain please if it's ok that i get negative saving throw on level-up? Is this intentional behavior?

I  don't quite understand the question. But sometimes a creature might have saving throws which are not correct for their level. At level-up, every level-up, party members' saves snap to the correct values according to the save tables. (SAVEWAR.2da, SAVEWIZ.2da, etc.) If the saves are wrong to begin with, then the first level-up could involve changes that seem unusual. But the very process of leveling up in fact fixes them. So if you see the changes upon leveling and you think  "wait, are my saves wrong?" then what is probably really happening is, your saves were wrong and now they are right. :)

But there have been communication issues between here and GitHub that have made getting out a release to fix a number of things more lengthy than initially envisioned (I believe the word "imminent" has been used for probably over twelve months now?)

Ha ha, fair enough!

Personally, I'm not really sure what else needs to be done,

I recently made a pull request to fix the Sleep issue... I don't know if grodrigues is actually around these days to evaluate or accept it and I don't want to accept my own pull request. If you want to look at it and make the decision I trust your judgment. I'm honestly not aware of anything else that needs doing... was there something about the AoE deflection code? I think the main  thing holding up a "release" is a Readme, for which I am not holding my breath.

My opinion is that we should make a "release," in the Github sense of the word, of 4b19, and we can still call it a beta since it has no full Readme. But at least it would give players a stable download link to get all the recent fixes... the situation right now isn't great: the best/fixed version of the mod is right there but people are not finding it.

Hi SD! And "there" is where? :)

If I updated my megamod installation with the latest SR, would it break my game? Hard to say? I also have SCS and a bunch of other stuff. Otherwise I'll wait until my next clean install.
