Personality: A small Collie-type dog with a handsome, rough, and long luxerious mane, the Shetland makes a most agreeable household pet. Intelligent, faithful, sociable and obedient. The perfect family member.

That's the cutest test I have seen I am some sort of Canaan dog.

 

Personality: Alert, home loving and loyal to the family. It distrust starngers and will guard humans and animals entrusted in its care, standing its ground the best it can.

Miniature Pinscher.

 

Personality:

The Min Pin has a distinctive hackney (high stepping) gait which to some looks absurd but to those in the know is the epitome of class and sophistication. It makes an ideal companion thanks to its intelligence and clean domestic habits.

Braque d'Auvergne (AuVergne Setter)

 

Origins

France. From the AuVergne province in the south of central France. Resembles the English Pointer or the German Short-haired Pointer, both of which are descendents of the Spanish Pointer. Some people think the Knights of Nalta introduced this breed into the area in 1798.

 

Personality

Intelligent and sensitive the Braque d'AuVergne is a calm and affectionate family companion that requires plenty of exercise. When hunting they are full of passion yet cautious, balanced and intelligent. They are people oriented and not happy if isolated from the family.

SHIBA INU

 

Origins

Japan. An ancient breed associated with the prefectures of Gifu, Toyama and Nagano in central Japan. The name means "little dog" in the Nagano Dialect. Remains of a similar dog was found in local ruins dating back to the Joran era (500BC). In recent years this dog has become popular amongst exhibitors, following closely on the heels of the Akita.

 

Personality

Affectionate with family and friends this dog is happy in a domestic environment, but will rise to the hunt. Amongst strangers it can be aloof, sensitive and hard to please.

Beauceron (Beauce Sheperd)

 

Origins:

France. Originally hunters of wild boar, these dogs turned to herding and livestock guarding, and eventually to military/police dogs. Earliest records as a breed date back to 1578.

 

Personality:

While retaining its herding instincts the Beauce Shepherd is easily trained, good tempered but distrustful of strangers. Definately not a house dog.

German Pinscher:

 

Origins: Germany. The Pinscher ("biter" in German) has existed for several hundred years. Resembling the larger Dober to which it contributed its genes, it was officially recognised as a breed in 1879.

 

Personality:

Often described as high spirited and self possessed, this is in fact a good natured, play dog which is good with children and makes a fine guard. It is alert, loyal, watchfull and fearless. However they can be bull-headed and stubborn and need to know who is boss. For this reason the German Pinscher is not a good breed for chilren. They will bite first and think later.

Black Russian Terrier

 

Origins:

 

Russia. In the 1940s the army-controlled kennel "Red Star" began to breed a dog for its own needs. They used a program developed by Soviet breeder-specialists and created a new breed especially suited for their special duties. The goal was a massive, robust, high-spirited all-round dog, always willing to work and able to withstand the enormous, climatic differences in the country. The Black Russian Terrier is to the Red Army what the Malinois is to the French Army.

 

Personality:

 

Black Russian Terriers are brave and very observant. Suspicious of strangers, they have a strong protective instinct. They avoid fighting with other dogs, although males cannot live with other big dominant dogs, but can easily live with none-dominant or small dogs, cats, horses, rabbits etc. This breed only barks when they feel it is necessary. Quick to act, they are always ready to protect their owner and house.

Begamasco Sheepdog

 

Origins

A large and robust dog with flock-guarding ability. Named after the city of Bergamasco in Northern Italy, the Bergamasco is great with children and has been used as a therapy dog for disabled youths.

 

Personality

Strong, quiet, patient, and brave, the Bergamasco is above all an intelligent and calm individual. A friend, never a follower, this dog obeys to demostrate affection.
