  1. Hello,

I am actually working on a mod, and while i was proofreading it, i found a mistake in the original version. This mistake have been reproduced in every language already translated.

So i'm trying to fix it, but i can't read/spell russian at all, so i need your help.

    Quote

Here are the original text : "Rivval do not lay their hands on a drow."

And here is the actual russian translation : "Низшие не смеют касаться дроу."

So, this strange word, "Rivval", i strongly believe, is a drowish word (this line is from Viconia, talking to Alora, a halfling). It means "Human" according to a lot of research on the web. But, Alora is a Halfling ! So i change the word "Rivval" with "Sakphul", it means "Halfling"...

    Quote

Here is the line to translate in russian (in the same style as the previous one please) : "Sakphul do not lay their hands on a drow."

    Thank you in advance. :)

I think what you visualized is meant, since the first letter can be pulled out of Phlydia's book, which would not be possible if it was hidden behind the cover in a more closed fashion.

    Thanks. :)

  3. Hey again @tibicina and @jastey !

    Spoiler

The TICam translation is nearly done, and i am proofreading myself. I'm wondering something, about "the spine of a book" where the letter's are supposed to be hidden.

Are the letters supposed to be between two pages of the books ? Behind the cover ? Or my guess, here (picture) ?

  4. I force-converted all the files in ANSI (expect setup), you could try this.

I tried to upload them to github, but no changes were detected at all... (I have no idea if github pay any attention to encoding)

I don't know how to proceed in that case on github so i uploaded them manually here https://www.mediafire.com/file/gojgx2kktgxqc9s/SCSFR.rar/file

Maybe some of my previous files got some "ghost"-encoding part (Some part in UTF8 and some other part in ANSI). Honnestly i don't know, neither how to check it nor to confirm that.

I simply don't see any reason to stay. I asked for suggestions and was ignored. I proposed an idea for a new mod and was told "do it yourself". Joining this forum was a mistake and I want to remedy it.

You know that modding require a lot of time, competence and motivation ? Don't take it personnaly. ;)

  6. Hey @jastey and @tibicina !

I'm translating TICam.tra in french, and i got a hard time to understand a dialogue sequence, especially @188.

It start with Tamah saying @181 and @182. If Charname choose the @185 answer then Tamah respond @188, and then @221.

    Spoiler

Doe's @188 (Aren't you the lucky one, then?) mean something like : " Aren't you lucky to not have that kind of problem. " or " You're not gonna be my lucky romance tonight. " ?

    Thanks.

The second string is for a female PC. But if the caster could be a female NPC (and the PC is male), the wrong gender text (the male one) will be shown for a female caster (and vice versa). I think that's the problem?

    Yes, exactly !

@Fouinto, yeah, you're right, but it's still sound a bit odd, no ?

@DavidW, we tried to search for a neutral gendered word, but noone fit. I guess it can work fine this way, thanks. Sorry for bothering you for such detail.

I’m not sure I understand. In modern English, ‘master’ here is gender-neutral. (At one point, ‘mistress’ would have been the feminine form, but that’s archaic and has sexual connotations.)

Sorry, i forget to add that in some other language, especially in french, there is sometime 2 stringref to translate a single one in english "Master" is "Maître" for a man, and "Maîtresse" for a woman.

    So it should be :

    @1212 = ~It shall be done, my master!~

    @1212 = ~Ce sera fait, mon maître !~ ~Ce sera fait, maîtresse !~

And if i understand correctly what Gwendolyne told te me, for this spécial case, the .d file (the Wish spell genius) doe's not detect female version of the stringref. (We didn't add them in the last french update because of this)

Sorry if it's not very clear, i'm actually reporting a report of someone else.

  9. Hello DavidW,

While updating the french translation of SCS, me and Gwendolyne have come accross a few lines in mage.tra linked to the Wish spell like this one :

    @1212 = ~It shall be done, my master!~

Since Gwendolyne is far more competent than me i prefer quote him.

"There's still a big problem with the mage.tra file: you'll have to add the strings of version F for the scripts. But as you should be able to use the Wish if you're not CHARNAME, it poses a coding problem (you have to detect the gender of the person casting the spell), I left it pending."

Is there something you can do about it ?

It is fairly likely that I will release a new SCS (little or no new content, but lots of bugfixes) in the next 1-2 weeks. No promises, though.

I hope the proofreading of the major french update for SCS v32 will be done before your next update. Can you keep me updated please ?  I don't want to miss the opportunity to publish it.

Here is the tra-files attached. The changes are not much if you just take the existing lines as specified and remove Imoen being mentioned.

@Jazira @Austin @fedearianna @c4_angel (not tagging you to put you under pressure but to make sure you noticed my post).

Thank you very much in advance!

Yes, it depends whether in cutscenes the characters are supposed to "say" something, then it's done via DisplayStringHead (think BGII cutscenes with Imoen and Irenicus etc.).

Also, if a Mapnote is set via script for example you need a text line with the Mapnote name inside the script.

btw: I am working on v3.0 with some changes to c#eltan.tra. I will specify the changes when the new version is up or earlier if you want.

    Thanks for the explanation.

You can send to me, Graoumf or Le Marquis the updated c#eltan.tra when it's ready. ;)

  14. Well, most is an exageration ok, let's say some, i regurarly see roxanne add pull request on different projects so there is some contribution, at least on some mods i'm working on.

It's been years that I witness a lot of hostility toward her, (or anyone using any of her mod/tool ... yeah), for promoting her own mod on the tool she maintain, if i've been her i would have done the same, and most of you too let's be honest. Maybe not in the same way but still.

My mod, my sweat, my time. Self-promotion isn't a crime especially considering all the time and effort put into a public service. Then things escalated, fixes that should have been called tweaks, misinformations, little revenge and such.

Let's be clear, i'm not defending everything Roxannne have done in the past, and this baldurian's sea tower case is just unfair. I'm just giving her credits for what she contributed, for maintaining a tool that, like it or not is very popular for newcomers. I repeat myself, I'M NOT SUPPORTING HER ACTIONS, especially the latter.

I am not aware of half of the story here, and i doubt everything is on her, some of her detractor have a responsability too, for this whole situation because it crearly have started years ago, not just with this baldurian's sea tower case.

I just wish the better for the community. I'm done with this subject, i'm sorry for opening old wounds and if i have offensed anyone.
