Version 5 Bug Reports

@DavidW: I still get those animation converter errors. I tried [Print Screen] when they appeared, but I've no idea if it worked or where they might be found if it did. Any idea where I'd look?

In general, PrintScreen copies an image of the screen to the clipboard, so you'd have to open a graphics program and paste (ctrl-v).

If I recall correctly BG(2) actually takes proper screenshots (no tedious alt-tabbing into paint) when you press PrntScrn.

 

Yup - Taking Screenshots

When you [Print Screen] during a game:

1. A screenshot will be taken and stored on your hard drive, usually inside a subdirectory of the game's install directory, or simply dumped into the game's install directory directly (NWN). For example, a screenshot taken in Baldur's Gate 2 will be given a name like "Baldr000.bmp" and stored in the ScrnShot directory. This directory will be in your game's install directory; normally something like - C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BG II - SoA\ScrnShot. Unfortunately, the game doesn't tell you that the picture has actually been taken, but you might notice a slight pause in gameplay at that time.

 

EDIT: So with any luck you'll have a bunch of .bmp's in your gamedir Grogerson.

I believe you. But I also think it's something specific to your install, since no-one else gets them. It's not at all straightforward to diagnose them - I might see if I can set up better logging of the animation converter in v6.

 

(I take it you've tried reinstalling on a clean IWD install?)

He's talking about screenshots during the installation process (i.e. WeiDU at the DOS prompt) not in the game.

Okay, I may be doing something wrong, but here's what I got: my party came to see the Seer, the Seer returned the party to the surface, and we went straight to the barbarian camp. But when we came there, the gates were closed and there was no one to meet the party. (We saw Hjollder in the bushes, and he gave us a chain - Wylfdene's symbol, but it helped little: still, there was no one to open the gate).

Did you check near the east entrance to the Mead Hall? Or near one of them?

 

@CamDawg: It's possible Angaar is not returning to his post once he takes you to the hall. My first run suggested this, so my question to Kulyok.

Interesting, I've had the same problem in the first gemrb-how playthrough. Didn't investigate yet, just jumped over the door. IIRC Angaar was behind them, so maybe it is a dialog/script range problem.

 

Btw, re summons: we had to hardcode the avatar removal effect addition in gemrb (bleh, it doesn't even match the summon's appearance vvc duration), so the one second round difference may really be the cause of the summons problem.

@grogerson: That's what interesting. When I jumped from Gloomfrost to Mead Hall(via console), exited the Mead Hall and went to the gate, Angaar was right there behind the front gate(inside the camp). However, he most definitely wasn't there when I approached the gates the normal way. I guess the camp doesn't get... reset, or something, if you come back the normal way?

Clean install and a fresh download of the core and I still get 'em. "Cannot open target" when the error comes up. I'll be looking forward to the logging.

I'm betting on a script problem somewhere. I remember Angaar is at the game after the first meeting with Wylfdene. But his disappearing from the camp only if entered the normal way is new to me. Looks like you beat me. I'm not the only one who breaks the game... ???

Just finished Wyrm's Tooth. The frost salamander aura may still need a little work. It didn't provoke an attack by my party, but it did damage an ice troll (I thought they were immune to cold attacks) provoking an attack on the salamander, and irritating a winter wolf into attacking another salamander.

 

I'll be doing Heart of Winter next. Let's see what problems I can find there ??? .

Almost finished HoW. Almost. Here are the problems I noted.

 

Ned's dialog going to the Isle of the Dead worked once. I restored and it was as if I was on the island. He would only return me to Lonelywood. Why I've no idea since it was a save before I left.

 

I cast Chant in the middle of a battle and it affected ally and enemy alike.

 

Wailing Virgin spell attacks seemed to not work.

 

Kossuth's Blood had the wrong name, though the rest of the description was correct.

 

When I returned to the Barbarian Encampment Angaar was at (2888,522) (near the entrance to the Mead Hall) rather than at the gate. I had to CLUA him in.

 

Alpheus was visible in the doorway of the Whistling Gallows. After the fight began with the mercenaries after Kiernen I talked to him. He ran his dialog with Vaarglan and the prebattle cutscene ran again (spells, gating of the others), Alpheus teleported away from the door, and a few moments later another Alpheus appeared in the doorway (this one remained blue).

 

One of the Ice Golem Sentries at the entrance to AR9601 was a real problem. Every round I'd get "Regenerates and fades from sight" and it was fully healed. I finally had to use the killsword on it.

 

Finally, when I entered Icasaracht's lair the game hung. The characters swayed but did not move forward. The cutscene failed to run beyond that. I'll try a few things tomorrow, see if it's one of the buffs that caused it to fail.

Iam playing through the game, and i think it works okay. So thanks!

 

Here are some bugs i found:

 

Whirlwind chrashes the game (have to kill djinn in luremaster before he can cast it)

cloudburst chrashes game

Wailing Virgin are broken, they run around casting spells that doesnt have any effect.

alt+tab will sometimes break the font, saving and tabbing back will fix it

 

Description of light crossbow of speed is wrong

resistance symbols for. boots of grounding, boots of the north, boots of speed, winter kings plate does not appear in portrait (but they work)

bardic horn of valhalla does not work

Dead god's dreaming (sword) spell abilities does not work.

 

Armor does not go into bag of holding?

Bard song affect only bard, not party?

The switches in the towers in luremaster are bogus, since you can go downstairs anyway.

The specters in luremaster are very hard (imo) compared to other monsters and xp reward. are their thaco and armorclass set correctly?

when you finnish luremaster you get 0xp?

in luremaster when you acomplish something, your main char uses the ability "beetle" before you get the xp.

Trolls are allowed save vs spell against fire arrows?

 

also the same as Kulyok, will try to cheat to get past and into barb camp.
