Welcome to The Gibberlings Three

The Gibberlings Three (G3) is a very active modding community for the Infinity Engine, which powers games such as Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale II and Planescape: Torment. Feel free to browse our collection of released mods, view information about mods in progress, visit us on IRC, or visit the forums.

New Version of Sword Coast Stratagems Available

Version 9 of Sword Coast Stratagems has been released. SCS is primarily a tactical mod for Tutu and Baldur's Gate Trilogy. The idea is to make the game rather more tactically challenging, rather than just making it harder by brute-force methods like tripling all the damage rolls. It also contains a few rule tweaks and ease-of-use features. v9 is a systematic recoding which corrects lots of small bugs, includes a new French translation, and allows enemy mages and priests (optionally) to use BG2 magic. Grab the new version on the download page . You can learn more about the mod on the SCS project pages or in the readme. SCS also has a forum to discuss ideas and provide feedback.

G3 Item Revisions for Baldurs Gate II reaches v1

Item Revisions aims to fix/tweak/enhance all items in Baldur's Gate II. Demivrgvs and Mike1072 have created a mod where weaker items have been improved, overpowered ones have been (or will be) nerfed, many descriptions have been extended or replaced with more appropriate ones, and so on. In addition, there are a number of rule changes available that can be chosen individually as the user wishes. You can learn more about the mod by visiting its project page and by participating in the forum.

G3 Welcomes the Keeping Yoshimo Mod

This BG2 mod, created by Lemernis and Icendoan, makes it possible, as the name suggests, to keep Yoshimo. It aims to expand Yoshimo's character and restore some of the cut content that was clearly missing. He now stays with the party after Spellhold and can be imported into ToB, but not yet brought by the Fate Spirit. He has a couple of fairly lengthy dialogues with the PC. A Shadows of Amn encounter and a Throne of Bhaal quest are also planned. You can learn more about the mod, which is in its initial alpha stage, by visiting its project page and by participating in the forum.

G3 Celebrates Its Fifth Anniversary

G3 turns five now, and in celebration of the occasion, we have a few mod updates, releases, and new mod announcements. More mod updates will follow in the near future, including a very special surprise mod, so stay tuned.

G3 Welcomes grogerson's BG1 Tweak Pack

BG1 Tweaks is a WeiDU compilation of fixes, cosmetic changes, and tweaks. Some of these were fan requests, others are needed fixes, and others simply make dealing with the more irritating aspects of the game engine easier. Each component can be installed separately so the player can pick and choose only which ones they wish to install. For more information you can check out the mod's main page or the readme. You can download the mod here or check out the forum to discuss it.

Jastey's Baldur's Gate Mini Quests and Encounters Updated to Version 4.1

BGQE is a set of mini-mods for all BG games: "vanilla" BG (with or without the add-on Tales of the Sword Coast), BG1Tutu v4, EasyTutu, or BGT. It adds several small quests and encounters to the game, including the former stand alone BG mini quest mod "slime quest". Version 4.1 offers several bugfixes. You can learn more about jastey's mod on the project page, view the English ReadMe, German ReadMe or Spanish ReadMe, or you can participate in the English forum or German forum. The mod is available on the downloads page.

G3 Announces cmorgan's Aran Whitehand NPC Mod in Development

Aran Whitehand is a human fighter and scribe for BG2, dual classable into either cleric or mage. Basically, a human utility player taken along for the friendship/cuddling. "Specials" include creation of minor scrolls through dialog and timer when in a party with another canon mage. Primarily a male friend who can grow into an extended courtship/romance, romanceable by female PCs, Aran has his own sense of humor and specializes in bringing others into the conversation.

Functionally, Aran is a Companion mod. He has a minor optional quest with a new area, but comes with no special weapons or upgradeable items - his specialty is in interacting with the members of the party and adapting to situations. For him, the job is paramount, and his job is supporting the player. He is no stranger to having to carry out orders which bend morality, though he hates doing so.  You can learn more about Aran Whitehand on his project page and watch the mod's development status in his forum.

G3 Announces theacefes' Legend of the Acefes Mod for NWN2

The Legend of the Acefes (LOTA)  is an all new single player adventure for NWN2. LOTA tells the story of a young human in the land of Damea whose life suddenly changes forever when the Queen of Damea is murdered by unknown assassins. The mod is for games with the Mask of the Betrayer expansion installed and will be played out in three parts. You can check out the status of the mod's development on its forum.

Version 4 of Romantic Encounters Released

Enjoy nearly fifty brand-new romantic adventures by thirteen different authors with joinable and non-joinable, BioWare and custom characters. An additional component with Anomen's, Aerie's, Jaheira's and Viconia's reactions is available. Teen and adult, male and female, long and short - Romantic Encounters are here! Version 4 adds encounters with Captain Cernick, Sarevok and Cernd. Grab it direct from the downloads page. You can also visit the project pages, readme, or the Romantic Encounters forum for more information.

Nythrun's Level 1 NPCs Version 1.1 Released

Nythrun's mod derives from Gebhart Blucher's Alternate BG2 NPCs (lvl1npcs.zip). Her new version allows you to start any of the joinable NPC from BG and BG2 as level one characters with excess experience points. When they join your party, you can level them up and choose their skills. Their experience points end up being the same as if they had joined your party without the mod installed. Level 1 NPCs expands on Blucher's original concept by allowing players to assign any previously installed kit/class - default or customized - onto any default NPC from both BG1 and BG2 games. The mod also allows players to change the NPC's skills and weapon proficiencies. Khalid the Fighter/Painbearer of Ilmater, Mazzy the Paladin, Jaheira the Kensai, and Valygar the Wizard Slayer are just a few examples. The combinations are endless and the choices are purely up to the players interests. The extra benefit of the mod is that it allows the player to try customized kits from other mods, and to apply them to as many default NPCs in the game as desired. Now available for Windows, OS X, and Linux, this version adds a Polish translation by Yarpen, WeiDU update, and several bugfixes. The complete readme is also available, you can visit the forum, or you can grab the mod from the downloads page.

Spell Revisions v2 Released

The Spell Revisions mod aims to fix/tweak/enhance arcane and divine spells in Baldur's Gate II. This originally started as a project to make the spell system more balanced: weaker spells have been improved, overpowered ones have been (or will be) nerfed, save-or-else spells now benefit from increased saving throw penalties, and so on. Version 2 incorporates feedback from v1 and 1.5. You can learn more about Demivrgvs' mod on the project page or readme, or you can participate in the forum. The mod is available on the downloads page.

Kivan and Deheriana Companions for BG2 Updated to Version 8.1

This is a WeiDU mod that adds a joinable NPC from BG, Kivan, and, under certain circumstances, his elven wife Deheriana to the cast of BG2 actors. This version has text updates and minor bugfixes as well as a WeiDU update. Now available for Windows, OS X, and Linux, Kivan is ready to accompany you through Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal. The complete readme is also available, you can visit the forums, or you can grab the mod from the downloads page.

Version 1 of The Wheels of Prophecy released

The Wheels of Prophecy is a brand-new mod for Baldur's Gate II by DavidW, author of Sword Coast Stratagems I and II. The mod adds new content, dialog and roleplaying options to the Throne of Bhaal expansion. It makes only minor changes to the main storyline but allows the player to interact with that storyline in a much more non-linear way.

Wheels of Prophecy v1 is an open beta, and is available on the downloads page, and its Project page.

EDIT (7/8/08): Wheels of Prophecy now has its own forum.

Song And Silence v3 Released

Andyr's, nIGHTMARE's, and Grim Squeaker's Song And Silence v3 hits the inns of Faerun, ready for a story, song, or perhaps the removal of some of your spare change. This mod adds many options to those who use thieves and bards. Available for Windows, OS X, and Linux, this version includes bugfixing by Nythrun, new Polish translation by Yarpen, new French translation by Zayn and Lothringen of the d'Oghmatiques, and WeiDU updates including linux compatibility.

Song and Silence v3 is available on the downloads page, the Project page, has a ReadMe available, and can be discussed on its forum.

cliffette's Mods for Baldur's Gate II

cliffette has produced a number of mods for Baldur's Gate II. G3 is pleased to mirror these mods, with her permission, though they are offered 'as is' with no support for them. There are three WeiDU mods available.

  • Every Mod And Dog: Readme, a mod that adds a selection of small diversions and sidequests to Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn with an emphasis on fun.
  • Fonick: Readme, a mod originally designed for a 'History' themed modding contest.
  • A Mod for the Orderly: Readme, a mod that adds a keyring to help manage the avalanche of keys you acquire in your journey across Faerun.

All three of these mods can be downloaded from the Mini Mods page, the Project page, or the Downloads section at Gibberlings Three.

A Brand New Mod, Spell Revisions v1.5

The Spells Revisions mod aims to fix/tweak/enhance arcane and divine spells in Baldur's Gate II. This originally started as a project to make the spell system more balanced: weaker spells have been improved, overpowered ones have been (or will be) nerfed, save-or-else spells now benefit from increased saving throw penalties, and so on. This version incorporates feedback from the v1 forum release. You can learn more about Demivrgvs' mod on the project page or readme, or you can participate in the forum. The mod is available on the downloads page.

Version 6.2 of Auren Aseph Mod released

Auren Aseph is a NPC mod for BG2, featuring a young and eager fighter from Beregost. She was born to a middle class merchant and his wife, and grew up a headstrong girl. Her father would tell her stories of adventurers he'd run into while on his caravan routes, and Auren became more and more interested at the thought of adventuring as she got older. She'd spend hours every week at the famous blacksmith Thunderhammer's shop, staring at all of the many types of weapons and armor, both magical and non-magical. Auren also features an original soundtrack, which is also available separately on the downloads page. The new version fixes bugs identified since the last release, including interjection errors and various other bugs. Auren is available on the downloads page or you can learn more about the mod in her new forum and project page. The readme is also available.

Version 8 of Sword Coast Stratagems II released

Sword Coast Stratagems II is a collection of mini-mods for Baldur's Gate II, affecting both Shadows of Amn and the Throne of Bhaal extension. Like its Tutu predecessor, SCS II is mostly a tactics mod, intended to make the combats in the game more challenging and interesting. Overall, playing SCS II shouldn't exactly feel like a whole new game - it should feel like the old game, but with your foes acting much more intelligently and realistically. Version 8 of SCS II fixes a number of small bugs, adds two new components, and optimises existing components. Highlights of the new version include a new component for the final battle in Throne of Bhaal. Grab it direct from the downloads page. You can also visit the extensive project pages, readme, or SCS II forum for more information.
