November 28, 2004: Double shot of Baldur's Gate mod releases: The BG1 NPC Project hits v7 and introducing a new mini-mod: the BG1 NPC Portrait Pack

The BG1 NPC Project expands on the depth of character and levels of interaction with the NPCs from the BG game. When BG2 was released, one of the major improvements in many peoples' eyes was the increased level of interaction one could have with the party members. This mod was developed to allow BG players a similar experience. NPCs in your party now have banters with the PC, with each other, and small side-quests of their own. The newest version expands the banters of the last version, fixes bugs, and includes new content such as interjections and PC-initiated talks. Grab version 7 off the downloads page, view the readme from the mod, check out the BG1 NPC Project webpage, or visit the forum. The BGT version has not been updated.

The BG1 NPC Portrait Pack is a collection of alternate portraits for the joinable NPCs from Baldur's Gate. It features a set of portraits from Amok, originally designed for A Song of Ice and Fire, as well as alternates from XVIII, NiGHTMARE, Tancred, and Melisah. Despite the name, it does not require the BG1 NPC Project and will work on Baldur's Gate or either of the two conversion projects, Tutu and Baldur's Gate Trilogy. A preview gallery of the portraits has been added to the Portraits section of the site. Find it on the downloads page, view the readme from the mod, check out the BG1 NPC Portrait Pack webpage, or visit the forum (support will be handled in the BG1 NPC forum).

November 22, 2004: Amber NPC for BG2 joins G3

G3 is pleased to announce the addition of the Amber NPC mod for BG2. Amber is a chaotic good tiefling dual-classed fighter-thief and is the creation of Meira and Darios. Initially Amber appears withdrawn, suspicious and restless, as tieflings often do: she never seems to stay in one place for very long and always seems cautious and highly aware of her surroundings. Her natural curiosity is both a blessing and a curse: she has learned a lot because of it but it has never kept her out of trouble. Being both a prime--she doesn't recall ever having been to Sigil or any other place outside the prime material plane--and a tiefling, she feels as if caught somewhere in between these two worlds. While she can never pass for a normal person, she also lacks the otherworldly grace of a seasoned planewalker, leaving her with a strong feeling of being on the outside wherever she is. You can visit Amber's brief page on G3, her full site, or her forums.

October 27, 2004: G3 Tweak Pack v7 and Tutu Tweak Pack v8 Released

New versions of the original two tweak packs have been released. The G3 Tweak Pack for BG2 added components for Restore SoA Load Screen Logo, Make +x/+y Weapons Consistent, and Improved Athkatlan City Guard. A lot of effort has gone into making the two armor tweaks (Allow Thieving and Allow Arcane Spellcasting) affect items introduced by other mods. You can learn more about the mod, head to the download page, hit the forum, or browse the readme. The Tutu Tweak Pack also underwent revamping to universalize the two armor tweaks, and also added one new component: Adjust Evil Joinable NPC Reactions. You can learn more about the mod, head to the download page, hit the forum, or browse the readme.
